| Heartworm med and Flea med questions I saw on another post that you are supposed to give heartworm meds to your dog everyday. The vet has never mentioned that I need to do this. Anyone want to clue me in on this one? Also on the Frontline flea thing...the box says "from puppy to 22 lbs." I'm thinking since Copper weighs about 4 lbs. I'm going to give him half a dose and that should be enough. Any opinions on this?

| No; do not give a heartworm pill every DAY. Someone must have mis-typed, lol. It's one pill per MONTH. You are correct. As far as flea/tick med dosing, I have always thought it seemed a bit ridiculous the amount to put on. But I am not sure about splitting the dose, etc. Hope someone else knows.

| I give heartwork meds once a month. It is possible there is some heartworm medication that is given daily, but I don't know about it. I'm sure someone else will know more. I would also think giving half the flea medication should be fine... Just watch him for fleas and if you notice them, give him the full dosage.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Our vet said heartworm meds once per month too. We gave Katie Scarlett her first dose yesterday. She had a major case of the zoomies after eating the chewable. It was hilarious. As for fleas, that is a good question. I need to ask our vet if I could do half the dose as well since our baby is only 2.8 pounds. We are starting that soon. She had her appointment this past Friday and was flea/tick free. Thanks for asking this question! I will check back in and see what others suggest as well. I am curious!

| The paper I got with my frontline plus has a little astrik under the recommended dosage chart that says "if your dog is under 10 lbs you may want to use a smaller dose (e.g. .5 ml)" Furgie is just under 6 lbs, I give her the .5ml once a month (same day I give her the heartguard).
