| New Proud Parents of a 20 Week Old Yorkie! Hi Everyone! Margo, Reg and Fizzi here! Proud new parents of a 20 week old Yorkie baby girl named Fizzi. We look forward to spending some time on this site when we are not playing with Fizzi. We know we need to do some searching before we ask too many questions but we do have 2. 1) When you talk about how old a dog is does 20 weeks mean 5 months or is it calendar months like May 6 to September 6 is 4 months? 2) It seems most puppies in the forums were okay after a rabies shot but a few were not. Has there ever been a survey? Fizzi may get her first Rabies shot today if we like the vet and want to know what to expect. Thanks for being there for questions and support, Margo, Reg and Fizzi |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Congratulations and welcome to YT! How exciting! I can't wait to see pictures! As far as rabies goes, I do rabies because it is required by law. I always separate her shots and do Rabies separately. Give your sweet Girl lots of puppy hugs and kisses from us!

| Hi and welcome to YT! Yes we can see Fizzi and she's adorable. It's up to you if you'd want to go by months or weeks. I use weeks for now but will probably start saying in terms of months soon. My baby girl is 19 weeks old. Not too sure on the Rabies shots as they don't really give it here. Hawaii is rabies free!

| Welcome to YT ! I do it rabies because the law requires it and KC because activities they go to require it. I also ask my Vet to space shots out. She said 'I do anyway, for dog who will be under 25 pounds adult weight.' Your baby is adorable.

| Congrats!! Chloe is 5 months and 1 week. She was only 3 lbs when she got her rabies shot. The vet never once told me I should get it another day and space out the shots from the rabies vaccination. This made me angry! Thankfully, she did fine, not one little reaction! |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk and congrats on your new baby! I would make sure that you separate the shots and not get them all at one time.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and congratulations. I went by weeks until they were 20 weeks then went by months. I have had 8 yorkies and only one had any kind of reaction to the rabies shot. She just yelped when I picked her up the first night. I always make sure mine only get the rabies on one day and the distemper at least a month a part.

| Welcome, Welcome. My youngest is 13 months. I went by calendar weeks until like she was 6 months. Then it was 6 months and 2 weeks, etc. Definately space the shots. My Vet insisted on that because she was small. Maybe on a larger dog, 40-50 lbs, they might be able to handle it. But not our Yorkies.
