| how to get your yorkie used to wearing a coat Morgan is going to be 5 months old in 5 days and since we live in montana we bought him a coat since he doesn't even like the wet grass. we put it on him and he rolls over and over and runs around like he is trying to get away from it. it is kinda funny. My husband wants to buy him boots for his feet/ i can only imagine what he would do with that |

| Well Kaos wore clothes since he was a baby, so he didn't know anything else. Then he didn't wear any for a few monthes and then every time I put clothes on him he stood still and refused to move. I just put them on and walked away, and when he can't see me he will ALWAYS follow. Now the last two days he doesn't mind them at all again. I would give him some time to adjust. I want to get him to wear boots too for the winter here in NY. I can't imagine how that would go though.

| Dress and distract. Squeak a toy, give a treat, go for a brisk walk, play fetch. Some doggies will start to resist when they see the coat. Praise and treat when they have the coat on. Tell them they are beautiful, good boy etc. They will understand you are happy. I think boots are harder to get them to accept, but it is almost a requirement if you live in a snowy place. I would get the boots early so they have time to adjust.

| I dressed Callie sense I got her and she has always loves prancing around in clothes even put her her head and arms through the holes and I did not teach her that lol and when my mom got Sammy he did great with clothing to. I would set it on the floor and let him sniff and check it out, then put one of his favorite treats on it and if he takes it with no problem put it on him and give him a treat.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have several pieces of apparel for both of mine, and neither mind wearing them, but... I have to watch MY Male Sneakers like a hawk, when My Female Becca has something on. He likes to pull her clothes off I think he's part Ferengi !

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You might experiment with different kinds of coats. Eddie still freaks out when anything touches his, uh, weiner. He tolerates and appreciates lighter coats and simpler designs that allow freedom of movement. His current favorite is a wool coat that fits like a horse blanket, with the strap safely avoiding his sensitive area. Fleece is also a wonderful fabric because it stays warm when wet. In below zero cold, I'll add a layer of nylon on top to break the wind. I went through a stage where I thought they needed heavier coats with legs and arms, but they struggled to walk. I found lighter coats worked just as well if I kept them moving on walks.

| When I go to the clothes closet my little girl Sadie comes running and all three of the boys run and hide. Sadie loves to dress up and hear how pretty she is and the boys hate to wear clothes but they do. We live by the lake and it get cold here so they have to wear sweaters and coats and boots when it snows. When they first put the boots on it was funny to watch them walk but now they are use to it.

| This last week, after getting down into the 40's at night, it's been cold in the morning, so I've put a sweater on ZoE every morning...its become a routine. Yesterday, after eating breakfast & going potty, she brought a sweater to me to put on her before I even thought about getting one out myself! (Even though it didn't match the colour of her hair bow, I told her she was a good girl and gave her a treat ) Today, she went to do the same, but she grabbed one that I wasn't finished with and it still had knitting needles attached!!! You should have seen her as she proudly dragged it across the living room floor and jumped up on the chaise waiting for me to put it on her & get a treat...lol So maybe let her get cold and then she'll appreciate her sweaters

| chloe did that at first when i put clothes on her. now i put something on her everyday, even if it's for a few hours so she will continue to be used to it. If you want your dog to get used to boots, just put them on the doggie for a few mins a day until it gets used to them! |
