| Can you predict a pups coloring? So Lola is 4.5 months now. She has her black puppy hair still but i do see her silver/white coming in underneath on her back. Her face is turning a cute tan but white hair on top. Question is, can i assume she will lose the black? i ahve seen some dogs on here with black still? will the white on her top of her head turn tan as well? |

| Ziva's head was white/silver until after 18 months. I thought she was going to stay that way, but over the past 6 months it faded to a cream and now a champagne tan.She has a frosty look to her back when she is cut short and looks blacker as it grows in. |

| Jackson's always changing! He will be 3 next month and still, every time he gets groomed, he tends to be a different color, lol. Just little subtle differences. But here was the major differences as a pup.... First pic was 12 weeks Second pic was about 4 1/2 months Third pic is how his hair is when it grows out a bit... Last pic is how dark it often gets when cut short. Yeah his head was still pretty white at 4-5 months old but gradually the white faded and it turned more gold/tan-type color.

| My vet told me yorkies go through about 7 color changes before they are "done." I have NO clue what Fin will look like but I know her Mom is a really pretty blk/tan/red and the dad about the same. |

| Secret is 9 months old and he has been black all over expect for his head (the 1st time I took him to the groomers at 12 wks old she used the clippers on his head and that's when his hair changed color) I just got his coat trimmed and now his chest is silver. When the top of his head started changing color it started out silver but some of the silver has changed to a honey color. My mother has his bother (same litter) and he has never been trimmed and he is still black all over.

| Coloring Sprocket is 4yrs old now and his main color has settled, being the silver w/dark under tones on his saddle and his leg feathers and head are a strawberry blonde, his ears though are auburn red. That is the "base", in the summer like everyone, his hair bleaches out and the blonde becomes mostly white, even the dark under tones to his saddle are very lite, and in the winter the strawberry blonde becomes very "red" almost a medium red, the ears very dark and the saddle is charcoal, almost no white or silver. I must say his hair is just yummy, I love it, basically, it's always changing. I never saw his puppy colors though I would have loved to, this just part of the thing that makes our dogs so neat, so different. The changing, how your dog is different than mine but yet still both yorkies!! I love this breed even though I am sure I don't know enough about them and I am still learning. P.S. and waaaay off topic thanks everybody for all the info you share. So the question can you predict a puppies color? I don't think so, besides it's to much fun waiting to see what it's really going to be!
