| One side says yes, it's fine because dogs came from wolves and the wolf eats high protein, etc. Shouldn't cause any issues. The other side says no. No reason to overfeed protein. And feeding that much protein, you may be overfeeding phosphorus. If there is an undiagnosed kidney issue, this wouldn't be good. I'd talk to your vet. My dogs do not and will not eat very high protein foods.

| It is really your personal preference in the end and you will hear differing opinions. Personally, I feel like you are rolling the dice when you put such a small dog on a high protein diet. I wouldn't put my healthy, small dog on any food with a protein level above 28% or so.

| Well, depending on which forum you join - you'll hear very different things about high protein. Most of the 'big dog' forums I'm on are very pro high protein. With yorkies - who are often prone to liver issues - high protein can spell disaster if you have this liver problem lurking in the background. So a lot of us use very medium levels of protein. Not all of us though!
