Another dog left in car post...score one for the good guys

Yesterday I stopped at Carvel to get some ice cream. When I went into the store I was dismayed to see a car parked out front with a little dog left in it...looked like a poodle of some sort. There was an elderly man standing nearby, and I wondered if it was his car. I was in Carvel for several minutes, but when I came out the dog was still in the car, and the man was still standing there.

I went to my car and ate my ice cream. The man was now angrily pacing by the car with the dog. The person who had left the dog in the car had still not returned, and I was getting annoyed. Obviously exasperated, the man who was standing near the car finally went into one of the nearby stores and within moments came back out with a woman trailing him who was yelling at him. She flung open the door (still yelling), put a leash on the dog, took it out of the car, and went into another store.

Apparently, this guy was also really annoyed that she had left the dog in the car and had gone to find her! Good for him!

Yay for that old man, though I feel sorry for the poor doggie, as I'm sure that "person" will continue to do that

I left Publix the other day and parked next to me was an old beater car with a Pitt inside, with only two of the four windows rolled down about 2 inches I got on my phone to call the cops, when the girl came to the car and peeled out of there before I could get her tag number or give her a piece of my mind. She looked right at me (phone in hand and dirty look on my face) and her eyes got big and she hauled booty outta there People can be so stupid

I really dont understand why people dont leave there dogs at home if there just going to make it sit and be tortured in a hot car. People drive me crazy sometimes!

I was with my DH a couple of weeks ago on one of these hot summer days and someone had left their dog in their car and went into the movie theater. WHO TAKES A DOG TO THE MOVIES AND LEAVES IT WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP? If they were cracked, it was barely. I very loudly and obnoxiously talked about how it was inhumane and neglectful while we were in the lobby just hoping that the people were in there, but it wasn't in the cards to harass 8 rooms worth of movie goers to find out who had done it. I was on the warpath though.

Does it take that much common sense to realize not to leave a living being locked inside a hot car? I can only hope they wouldn't do it to their human child.

... A movie theater ... I was fit to be tied. That still gets to me. That's at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours that poor animal was locked up.

OMG That is HORRIBLE People are so dumb and cruel Unfortunately, as hot as it's been, I doubt that the poor dog survived Hopefully someone called 911 or even broke a window and rescued that poor baby

Today it was 85 degrees here in VA and when I came out from having lunch and was chatting with my coworkers I could hear a little dog barking. I quickly located the little maltese in a big SUV. There was an outside sitting area so I asked around to see if it was anyone's dog/vehicle. To my surprise an elderly couple said the little baby had been there for at least the twenty minutes since they had been sitting there I was shocked that they didn't call animal control. I called them right then and stood by waiting for them to come. Of course the owner comes out......a couple with two children.....I walked up to them and asked if he left water out in the car for the poor dog. He said he did and I told him that I called AC and gave them his vehicle tag so he might want to wait for them to come. He said he was "only inside for 10 to 15 minutes"...which going to this restaurant almost daily know that that is a lie (it takes them at least 10 minutes to make a salad...and he didn't look the salad type) Anyway, to my surprise he waited and was very apologetic for leaving the little dog once AC arrived and put a temperature gauge inside to show him that it was 100 degrees inside!!!!!! I was so mad!!!!!! AC then pointed this temperature gauge/gun thing to the parking lot pavement and it showed to be 125 degrees!!!!!! I was shocked to see that even though it was in the mid 80's out the pavement (blacktop) was so hot too!!!!! The guy promised to never do that again now that he knows it gets so hot so fast and actually apologized to me for "ruining my day" I was even more shocked, but told him that he really needs to apologize to his puppy and not do that again.

I never thought much of people leaving dogs in cars, since I didn't have a dog and I had no idea just how tragic it could be. Now that I know, I just want to wring the necks of anyone who does it...or have them sit in a hot car with no air for 20 minutes.

I'm sorry, but if you saw this was happening why the heck didnt YOU a call animal control? Why just talk about it loudly in the lobby? It just floors me that you didn't intervene when you KNEW what the owner was doing was wrong.
