| Fake pee Every now and then, Max will go to the potty pad to pee (yea, praise praise praise and a lick from the peanut butter tube). Well, Abby sometimes goes over to the potty pad and will fake pee. She squats as if to pee and then runs over to me for praise praise praise and a little lick of the peanut butter. Too funny. | I doubt there is a dog on earth who hasn't figured that one out - and early on. Mere pups get savvy very early in life and use that same logic to play us all their lives one way or the other! One reason these creatures are such fun to have around.

| Bentley never does that. But we couldn't use treats to praise him, he's not food motivated in the least. All we did to train him was say NO and take him to the potty pad when he started to pee somewhere else. Then when he peed on the pad we praised him by saying Good boy and clapping our hands in excitement. He potties fine on the pad in the family room but we have 2 pads next to each other in the dining room and he pees all around the pads, and on the pads... The carpet is ruined in there. We will have to replace it when we move. In our new house we will have laminate or wood floors. So chances are he will pee on the pad at that new house instead of on the carpet. We hope...

| Scooter does fake pees when he's outside and is all peed out but still has to "mark" every upright object he sees. They are so funny.

| Princess falls into the catergory of "scammer", too! I didn't want to give her the wrong idea by not treating her so I would when she first started this. Then I stopped, just saying "you didn't go potty" in a matter of fact voice. She's not on treats now, but she eats praise up just the same. Her new scam is to have me check the pad & when I turn around she's standing there with a toy...I guess she doesn't have a problem asking for anything!

| Lol, Bailey use to do that, make a quick run to the pee pad, fake pee, then run back over to me expecting his treat, He has since learned that it doesn't work that way

| Ozzy fakes it to get treats. We're slowly phasing out treats for pee pee. Now it's hit or miss for him, so hopefully the faking will eventually disappear. I always give two treats for pooping outside though. He can't fake that |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | LOL Poppy used to fake pee a lot when she was being potty trained just for the praise and treats. She still gets praise when she pees/poops outside but she has stopped trying to fool me.
