| How often do you take your yorkie outside to potty? This is a general question my wife and I have been wondering. Jade is now a year old (turned 1 on the 9th ) however she still needs to be taken out frequently compared to the dogs we grew up with. Jade is our first yorkie so of course everything is a learning experience. For the most part Jade is fully house broken (thank god) she has an occasional accident but it is almost always our fault. She has gotten into the habbit of actually coming over to us and scratching our legs and sooking when she has to go really bad. When she was a pup we were taking her out every half an hour and ever since then we have kept moving her up. Right now when we are home we take her out every 4 hours. This works well for her, however she is a year old now. I need something to compare to! How long do you guys wait before taking your little ones outside? Thanks! Chance |

| Bella is 3 years old and Harley & Ivy are 9 mos, they have gone as long as 6 to 8 hours without going out and sometimes longer if we sleep in...lol...all are outside trained and they rarely have an accident and when they do...its our fault...but I have a fenced in yard and we pretty much live on our patio when we are home so they are outside about 50% of the day...but if we are in the house on the really HOT days here in Fl, like your baby...Mine will come and sit in front of hubby or me and give us this little growl and bark to let us know they need to go, its so cute, I make them tell me a few times before I go and open the door LOL...I take my babies to work with me, so when we are there they have to put on the harness and leash to go out and Bella knows this and she will just go and get her leash and drop it at my feet...and I usually take them out 2 times while at work, so every 4 hours.

| Thor is 6 months and can go about 5 hours if necessary without accidents during the day and he can go from 10 pm to 6 am sometimes longer at night. I work at home so if I'm here he goes outside by his request about 6 times a day (usually he just wants to play...) but if I'm really busy and I know he is fooling me I make him wait and let him out about 4 times a day. Usually I can tell when he is REALLY needing to go.

| Zhoie is 2.5 yrs, I work from home and she goes out when we get up, again around lunch, around dinner time and I make her go on final time before bed or she wouldn't. Of course, if she comes to me, she can go anytime she wants.

| Jackson is 2.5yrs old and 16lbs and on a general day.... it's when we wake up (so usually around 9am), again around noon-ish, again around 4:30-5ish, again at 8, and then usually not again until I go to bed (which is typically 11). So I guess approx. 5x a day. Two of those are usually poop, lol. He can and has held it for 10-12hrs overnight (he likes to sleep in, like me )

| I take Zoey out every hour whenever she is out of her crate. I cant wait until she is old AND big enough to go outside by herself. I'm tired of carrying her up and down the stairs! |

| Bella is a year old today. She has always slept through the night (8 hours) without going out. In the beginning I would take her out every hour, but now I just wait until she asks. It varies depending on her activity and how much water she drinks. I can leave her in her crate if we go out for 5 hours and no mistakes. She is trained, but will make a mistake if we don't pay attention. She has this potty prance she does and then looks at me when she has to go. She is my first Yorkie and it has been a learning experience. I find if she is playing hard or chewing on her toys a lot, she has to go more often. It seems she has to go more in the evening than in the day. |

| Haha, I am very pleased that Jade lets us know when she has to go, it is just heart breaking when she has an accident. She always goes and hides. I mean it's a good thing because she knows she isn't supposed to go in the house, but we let her down . Luckily those instances are few and far between. |
