| Flea Products I'm in Louisiana ...and well we have fleas in the south. But I don't want my Yorkie to deal with them. What products do y'all recommend? I'm thinking of Advantage Multi...any feedback?? She's a few ounces over 3 pounds and does not seem to have any med sensitivities at this point. My last Yorkie's life was ended way to early at the groomers...so now I may be just too cautious. Please help. Thank you! |

| You're not being too cautious. What does the vet recommend? Are there tick issues in your area (Advantage Multi doesn't cover them)?

| Advantage is really safe, they have done many studies on it. Make sure you are also on heartworm prevention though because it protects against mosquitos but they can still get bit by them. On a side note- never ever use Hartz brand or flea collars or shampoos. Anything your vet reccomends should be tested and safe

| I have used advantage and plan on going back to it next month. We tried Comfortus, the new oral med for fleas and they are still scratching. Also use Interceptor for all my dogs for years and have never had a problem with it. You don't want to buy flea meds, food, anything like that through a grocery store, Walmart etc. Never use a flea collar, they are really dangerous. Good luck with your little one. She is so tiny I would just go by everything your vet says and not second guess nothing. They are just too fragile. |

| Info on Hartz (very dangerous product): http://www.hartzvictims.org/ Heartworm meds require an rx from a vet. Some good flea meds are sold in pet stores (Frontline, Advantage), but most sold in those places are terrible. Always talk to the vet about what to use first.

| Oliver is on Advantage multi which covers heartworm, fleas, hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm... it came recommended from his vet. Its easy.. just once a month. I live in South Carolina... so I understand it can get nasty in the South! Good luck!
