| What do we choose? Yuriy Ivanovich is now 2 yrs and 1 month and has developed into a wonderful little fella. Although my first experience in Yorkies he is probably the finest dog I,ve ever had. Anyway, we have been asked time and again to have him cover their bitches and we have always declined but we now see he really could do with a companion, even although I am at home all day. I am unable to work on health grounds and I probably don,t give him the energy he would enjoy. So, we may take up the invitation to mate with a 3 yr old bitch, who also has a lovely temperament, when she comes into her next season, due shortly. We shall have the pick of the litter so you know what the question is gonna be! Boy or Girl. Although I,ve had dogs all my life, never a bitch before. Sp, where better to ask than this Forum? Tell us folks your opinion and why. Not asking for chapter and verse just pure, genuine honesty. Pros and cons can be included! So Guys, fire away and pleasant regards from Tenerife (Island off N.African Coast), Spain. I am English speaking and Mrs. T. Russian. |

| I have both. Both are loving and great pets. I would not have two males unless they were neutered, they tend to mark territory, and fighting can get serious. If you get a female, she should be spayed to avoid unwanted puppies. That is my opinion. Good Luck. |

| Mating your dog because you want them to have a companion is no reason to breed- has your dog had health testing done? Bile Acids? LP testing? PRA testing? Are they shown? Have they been judged to be a good representation of the breed by an uninterested party?

| Dinky plays wonderfully with girl dogs and barks and gets aggressive with boy dogs. So if or when we get another, it needs to be a girl. My friend has 2 boys that fight quite a bit. Our neighbor has 2 small boys (not Yorkies) that fight too. Of course, lots of people have 2 boys that get along great, but that's my input. |

| Boy or Girl? Dog or Bitch? Teresa Ford dinkwell. I would, sincerely, wish to thank you for taking the time and trouble to answer my question, in a most constructive and helpful manner. We have taken note of the points made and this has been really helpful in reaching a decision. As on most Forums, these answers display the reason for having such Forums in the first place. Unfortunately, as in normal real life, there are people who consider themselves to be superior by making unhelpful, unwelcome and irrelevant comments. These people are best ignored, as in real life!
