| Getting a new yorkie baby, could use some advice! Hey everyone, i am new to this site and i am getting my baby Jasper in about two months. I used to have a yorkie named Willow, and i love her with all my heart. Sadly she is at my fathers now, whom i do not talk to. I miss here so much. So i have decided to get another yorkie to share the love i still have. I am just seeking a bit of advice of what to have when he comes home, and how to get through his first couple nights. I am positive i will have loads more questions that i will be asking, I would just really like to get to know everyone, so i can have people i can talk to about them. I would really appreciate it if you posted even just a welcome. I am looking forward to joining the YT community and gaining friends. Please and thanks everyone, have a great day. |

| Welcome to YT! Please read in the library that 8 weeks is much too young for a yorkie pup to leave its mother. Really at least 12 weeks is ideal. Make sure you see the mom and dad of the pup, this will give you a better idea of how he will look at maturity. How did you find this breeder?

| Welcome to YT and congradulations on your new puppy.. 2 months seems like a lifetime when your waiting for a new puppy. With this breed everyone will tell you that it is better to wait until the puppy is at least 12 weeks old to bring home. For social skills development, and the risk of hypoglcemia. These puppies are like human babies, they needs a lot of attention and someone making sure that the pup is eating , drinking and going potty . The yorkie puppy is fragile and can easily become too stressed out when going to a new home. Signs of stress would be not eating or drinking... Which can lead to serious complications in a young puppy's health. Be ready to give Nutri cal , which brings the puppy's blood sugar up. I hope you have lots of time to spend with your new pup . So you can bond and take care of him propperly. Everybody's situation is different. BUt it is best to be ready to give a lot of love and attention to the new puppy. It is very good that you are familar with the breed.

| Hmm, well, i have not yet picked out the puppy, but i think i will look into getting one from a different breeder then, so i can still get it in July, but maybe an older one, that is ready to go. I will make sure he is at least 12 weeks old, thanks everyone! I will always strongly consider what you say to make sure i have the healthiest puppy i can make him out to be! I will make sure Nutri cal is on my list of things to get before he arrives. Also i am getting him in the summer, and i am still a student (also a loner ) so i could be home every single day for at least 2 months if that is what he needs. My animals always come first. |
