| New Bed Failure...any tips? When I first got Roxie I bought this rectangular purple bed that is a bit too big for her. (I don't know what I was thinking.) Anyway, it's kind of ratty and faded now after being washed so many times. So, 2 weeks ago I bought a cute little round bed that much better suits her size and my decor. She won't go anywhere near it, and has taken to sleeping on the bench in the kitchen (which is cushioned). I don't want her to get used to that because we are actually getting rid of that table and bench within the next few weeks. I couldn't stand seeing her sad, mopey face anymore, so this morning I put her old bed out again and she was thrilled. Eventually I will try the new bed again. Any tips on how to make it stick?

| In the Same Boat I bought Bella a beautiful new bed from a YT member. Gorgeous, soft, cuddly. She won't use it, she loves her old pink, ugly, wash worn bed. Not sure how to make the transition. Looking for suggestions, too. Thanks for posting. |

| I'm going through the same thing with Piper. She has had the same bed since she was a puppy. Standard oval dog bed that the breeder gave me when I brought her home. After many washings the bed is really sick looking. I have tried to replace it with other beds and she won't have anything to do with the new beds. A few months ago I bought the Cloud Nine Yorkie print bed. I just love it, but Piper doesn't even try to sleep in it. She sniffs it and drags it here and there but has not slept in it. I'm hoping she changes her mind because the Cloud Nine bed looks so comfortable. I think my problem is I haven't thrown away the old bed and like her mother, Piper doesn't like change.

| Any chance the new bed will fit inside the old bed? That might work.

| We had to board Sugar Bear for 10 days while we were out of town and the excellent staff at the Whiterock Vet Hospital suggested that my husband and I bring a couple of t-shirts that we had worn for a day along with her. They put the shirts in the bed to make the new surroundings familiar and comforting. That might be something to try along with the other idea to put the new bed into the old bed for a few days. We have three of the same little bed - one in her 'den' (a cubby under a built-in desk in the kitchen where she sleeps at night), one for my office and another in the living room where she lays beside the couch. You could also put the bed beside you when you are watching t.v., etc., and have her lay beside you in it, petting her, etc., until she grows accustomed to it being 'her new place'. I totally agree. I can't get one of mine up once he is on the Cloud 9 bed. You won't be disappointed and neither will your doggie.

| I have a similar problem. I just got finished making the boys a pvc dog bed and Connor won't have anything to do with it! Neo LOVES it, but I have to put Connor on it. Then he just sits there looking at me like he's being punished. Poor dear isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but he absolutely finds it impossible to get off the thing by himself! It only sits about 8" off the floor and I made it long and wide enough for both boys. Any suggestions as to what I can do for him? |
