Yorkie Yakker | How often do you get their hair cut? We've only had her three months and she is looking pretty scraggily. What is the going rate? |

| I take mine in every 6 weeks. My groomer charges $45 dollars per dog, plus I give her a $10 tip.

| I have Sophie groomed and trimmed in a puppy cut about every 6 weeks. In between I bath her. I'm in Michigan and our groomer charges $33.00 plus I tip and that includes a bath, hair cut, ears shaved, nail trim, teeth brushed and choice of bow or scarf. I think it's a good deal and she loves her groomer.

| I do my own grooming and just recently went from a full coat on both of mine to a modified schnauzer cut. I have to tidy them up every 3 or 4 weeks.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | My groomer wanted to see them every 4 weeks, but we compromised on every 5 weeks. She charges $60 total for two dogs, often less because Eddie doesn't get much of a trim every time. Jillie is my problem child. She NEEDS it every four weeks. I wish I could do it myself, but last time I tried I left a bald spot on Eddie's forehead :O

| I generally push Jackson to 10 weeks. I keep him pretty short though so it often takes a while for him to grow out. I paid $55 plus tip for a mobile groomer to come to our house.

| I get Max's haircut every 6-8 weeks,I go to Petco, they charge about $45 for a haircut and nail trim,I don't know what an appropriate tip should be,I usually give between 5 and 10 dollars,is that good? Not to steal your thread, but what does every one else tip?I don't want to look cheap, just not sure what's appropriate.

I think 10 percent is reasonable. I usually give $5 but will go $10 if one or both dogs are in particularly bad shape.

| My groomer comes to my house every 7-8 weeks. Chase's hair grows so fast, and I keep him kinda short. She trims their nails, cleans their ears, gives them baths, and cuts their hair for $25/dog. I normally give her $60 (I used to give more, but money is tight) because Chase will give her a really hard time, and she could be here as long as 5 hours. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I recommend every 4-6 weeks for longer hair and 6-8 weeks for shorter hair. The longer coated dogs may even need it more frequently if the hair is prone to matting and the owners can't/don't brush at home. In my area price ranges from $45-$95 with the higher prices being in NYC and the lower prices in smaller towns in Jersey. Tips are not required but they are greatly appreciated by the groomer. I find most people tip whatever they can if they like the groom and appreciate the groomer's work, especially when they know their dog is a lot of work. I've seen tips range from $5 to $40.
