| Strange behaviour from our puppy.. please help! This evening, my husband and I came home and my husband went to get our little Elvis to take him out to the potty. As my husband picked him up and began walking outside, Elvis began screaming, an agonizing yell as if he was in pain. He than began squirming so much while in his hands that he slipped out of my husbands hands and fell. Thankfully, he was only about two feet from the ground and landed on my husbands crocks which cussioned his fall. We have no idea what triggered this action and my husband feels horrible, even though it wasn't his fault. The only thing out of Elvis' normal routine today was that we took him to the vet to get his second shots. Could the shots have altered his behaviour? Will Elvis be scared of my husband from now on? Please help! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have had puppies where they screamed when picked up after shots. Hopefully that is what is causing his behavior. I would call your vet if it continues. If you know where the injections were given try not to touch or pick him up there. I hope Elvis feels better soon.

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Is he acting okay now? Walking correctly, eating and drinking okay? Which vaccines did he get? How old is he and how much does he weigh?

| I have had pups scream after getting their DHPP. It usually subsides after 24 hours. I would just avoid picking him up for now and keep a close eye on him. Call your vet if the symptoms get worse. Good luck and welcome to YT.

The only thing that seems out of place is that he's avoiding my husband a bit. My husband is pretty upset because he is the animal lover of us two. I just became attached to Elvis after we brought him home and even then it was my husband who tended to Elvis the most. I really hope this stops. | |

| Hi all, My wife Maryanne is the original poster of this thread and I thought I would chime in. Our little Elvis is doing better now, though he screamed again last night when I picked him up to go outside, I think it's that I may be touching his needle injection spot. He's not too happy with me, though I played with him for about an hour last night and it seems like he's forgiven me! lol Thanks a lot for all your posts. We really appreciate all your help. We look forward to reading and posting more often. Cheers! Nick |
