| 1 and 1/2 years After Rescue She Learns Fetch Sophie who we rescued at age 2 finally learned fetch!!! It took a year and a half but she finally got it! We were so excited!!! I cried and hugged her and she just looked at me like "mom, you are crazy now throw the ball I am ready to go." She was wagging her tail and her eyes were sparkling. One thing I have learned with my two rescues is that it may take them a little longer to love trust and pick up "normal" doggie things but the reward is 10 times worth it!!! I am so proud of her |

| You have no idea how nice it is to read the story of your little rescue. It warms my heart! They just need someone to love them, be patient, and teach them what they were cheated of having as puppies. Keep the stories coming!

| That's so cool! I'm really happy for you...I have a pup mill rescue I got him when he was 5 months old and it took about 6 months before he was pretty much a dog...he still has some issues over certain things but not to any degree of what they were, you can hardly tell he went through what he did. I got my Elvis when he was 2 years old and he was just needing to be re-homed well when he arrived and some things became apparent I considered him a form of rescue...he was dirty, had bad teeth, was loaded with worms, and he's epileptic- about everything the breeder said turned out to be false, from not breeding him to what she fed her dogs to the medical care she provided them! After almost year now he has suddenly began to play ball and do "dog" behaviors! He was always such a lap dog and looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to get him to fetch or play and responded the same to the other dogs when they ran after rope balls etc... I just assumed he was the ideal lap dog and that was his personality! At the beginning of the year he started chasing rope balls and running with the other dogs, playing wrestling etc...crazy how you never really know...and how long it can really take before they are comfortable and rehabbed enough to show you who they really are! |

| Aww... I can see how much you love her and proud you are of your little Sophie. What a wonderful accomplishment. I would say she is a very happy dog and is very well taken care of. Great job to the both of you!!

| Yay! She must have a really good mommy! Our SPCA dog we got at 1-year-old never has played fetch and she's over 11 years old now. (I don't think she knows she's a dog, actually )

| Awwww. Thanks everyone! When we first started researching yorkies I never thought I would have one rescue..let alone two! Sophie is a puppymill rescue we got her at two. Izzie came from a breader. We got her at 3. At first I thought she was just going to be a rehome. But after 6 hours of having her it was apparent she was a rescue. Both girls have had to learn to walk with harnesses on leashes potty training and what toys and treats are. They quickly picked up on treats and the rest is still coming along. I thank God everyday for putting my girls in my life. They have taught me soooo much about love and trust. And I am so thankful for being able to celebrate normal puppy behavior. |
