| Feeding Fish as a supplement... Anyone give fish to their babies Hi All, I posted a similar post on the health and diet and haven't heard too much back I'm considering altering Harley's diet a bit. He is on Now! which I'm going to keep, but I also gave him Trippet (green beef tripe). Well it's been back ordered for a while and I'm considering switching to something else for that added kick/supplement. I've been giving him canned salmon, but my budget can support that. it's triple the price. SO I have a few fishy options Halo has a canned salmon based meal, buying canned sardines buying canned tuna buying fresh local fish (salmon or haddock most likely) (in a fillet) and prepping it myself, and freezing it in meal portions and my friend just told me at the local market I can also buy fish scraps, but my concern is there may be bones. So does anyone include fish regularly in their baby's diets, how do you judge what to give, what do I need to think of before I buy something etc. Like I said this is a supplement, and I'm trying to find something that would cost about $0.10-$0.15 per meal, as a can of tripe is just over 0.8 per can and I get 8 meals. Oh and he can handle fish, he eats lobster when he visits his grampy, cause they are fresh off his boat! Ok yeah I"m sure some people right now wish they were my dog! despite the fact that I'm a "broke" student, my dog's health and coat will never suffer!

| I give Oliver salmon oil drops in his food each day because its supposed to help with their health and the look of their coat. I've done that for about a month 1/2 now and his coat looks great! He also still really enjoys his food

| I give mine sardines sometimes- they LOVE them- I usually will give them each one fillet per day until the can is gone. Make sure to buy no salt and canned in water. I also will cook fish for mine- I bake it in olive oil- I usually give a white fish like sole, tilapia, or cod- I usually just buy an extra 2 pieces when I am getting it for myself and give them each one. I can't really speak to the price of either of these though because I am terrible with that sort of thing!

| Pippin is on a special diet for IBD of cooked tilapia (or cod) and oatmeal. You can find sales on the frozen tilapia. I cook the frozen tilapia in the water used for the oatmeal. When the fish is cooked you remove it, and add the oatmeal to the water so you don't lose any nutrients. He gets 53 grams of tilapia or cod, and 190 grams of oatmeal or couscous. So, one pound of fish makes enough food for a week. I thought making his food would be a pain in the neck, but it doesn't take any time at all. |
