| How to tell if your dog has Separation Anxiety So last night when I got home from work Pnut was acting fine, till about 7pm I noticed him going around the house licking the carpet, baseboards, under the oven, kitchen floor, the coffee tables, anything he could lick he would, and he wouldn’t stop. I tried to make him stop and he wouldn’t. He was acting like he was on drugs!! I tried to put him in his pack n play to see if he would stop, and he just started licking that. Then I put him in his crate, and he started licking that. I picked him up and he wouldn’t let me hold him, he would wiggle till I put him down, then he would go start licking, in places that he already licked!!! The crazy thing is this is not the first time he has done this… So I am starting to think that he has Separation Anxiety, but I was home… Also he acts a little crazy in the car, he will shake, and pant so I don’t know. I don’t know what to do… Any thoughts?

| I have NO IDEA about what might be going on with Pnut but I do hope you find out sweetie. It stinks when we worry about our furbutts. Snickers licks like crazy ONLY 1st thing in the morning (the sheets, himself, our hands, his blanket-only for 2 min max though-seems to be his routine, seems to be the only time he wants to itch his face like a maniac as well.) I'm not sure it's Sep Anxiety...but who am I to know???? I hope you get some answers... XOXOXO- Snick & Viv

| I honestly have no idea, but I would check with the vet to make sure he doesn't have any neurological/physical issues... especially if this is a new behavior... best of luck finding out what the cause is!

| One of my dogs does that , and what i have worked out is that she is licking up hair and dust! She licks and licks until she is sick,so i think its the same as when they eat grass to make themselves sick. Once she sicked up a massive hairball. It must have been building up over the months, then she was fine once she'd got rid of it. When she starts the licking, nothing will stop her, just as you've described with your little one.

| I can't remember the name of it, but there is something when dogs have a licking problem. Try googling "licking problems in dogs"

| Brandi does this whenever she has an upset stomach. How I know thiso is when let her out she goes straight for the grass. She will lick everything in site like your little one. I like that she does this actually because it is her way of letting me know she is sick. I would at least take your dog to the vet to make sure there is nothing wrong. |

| Thanks for the comments!! That is so odd that you all said your baby had an upset tummy when they were doing that, I didnt even notice but DH went home on his lunch to check on him and asked me if I saw the throw up in the bedroom... I said "No" I guess he had thrown up either last night at some time or in the morning when I was sleeping, Dh lets him out of his crate so I think he thrown up when DH was in the shower!! DH sent me a pic of it... It has like a chunk of my hair in it, and dust bunnies gallore!! Wow that must have been why he was acting that way!!
