| Not Sure If Anything's Wrong With Zoe I might be paranoid but Zoe seems to be acting a bit strange today. She ate drank, chewed a bone but she's very quiet. nothing seems to interest her. She has no diarreaha and she's not vomitting but she's not the same Zoe right now. Of course today is New Year's day and the vet is closed and I'm not even sure if anything is wrong with her. Anybody have any ideas. Of course if she's the same way in the morning I'll take her to the vet but I just thought I would ask. |

| I don't really have any advice but I sure know that feeling. It's so frustrating that they can't tell you how they feel. Do her eyes look ok. I can sometimes tell if they have "sick" eyes. Have you taken her temp? Good luck and I hope she's ok and just having a down day.

| Could it be that she is just tired .... was she up really late last night? If not, keep an eye on her. If you get really worried, you can always take her to Long Island Veterinary Specialists....they are located on the south service road of the LIE (495) in Plainview (not too far from you)...they are an emergency animal hospital that I have used in the past.....on the expensive side, but worth every penny. I hope she perks up soon. Keep us posted.

| Is she generally an emotional dog? Sometimes when there are loud conversations in my house, Cooper will go off to a corner and be by himself. Maybe fireworks or anything scare her? Will she play with you if you try?

| Can you interest her in playing or anything else that she enjoys? That will bring them back to life, unless they aren't feeling well. That's how I can tell.

| Fireworks was my first thought too. One of mine is a real Nervous Nellie. She is a little quieter today than usual -- probably from being so stressed last night. I held her most of the time. I was worried one of mine had a bad tummy today as someone had an accident in the house. Ben had not eaten well so I thought it was him. Kept all of the dogs right by me and .... another accident. This time I know it is Annie with the problem! So, I have one not eating & one with runs. Maybe New Year's Eve was hard on our pups? For me it is actually a change of food that I believe is the problem. Have you changed anything? I saw where it was suggested to take her temp, also look at her gums (are they pink & moist?). Is she drinking plenty? I found when I first started running the heat, my pups were not drinking like they had in the summer. With a dryer house, they were getting just a little on the dehydrated side. Nothing big, but enough that now I keep offering water. They always take it when I offer, so they must need it. Hope it is nothing major and your little one is back to herself in no time!

| Well we took Zoe to the vet this morning. She took xrays to make sure there was nothing she ate that got caught. Her xrays came back clean. They also did blood work and I'll get the result tomorrow. They took a stool sample and a urine sample also which I'll get back tomorrow. I'm really nervous. She was givin a half a pecid tablet and they gave her fluids. She was a little better when she came home. she ate a little and played with her bone then went to sleep. The vet said the pepcid and the sub fluids should make her feel better. Right now she looks like the saddest dog in the world. I'll keep you posted on the test results. |

| Rio has had bouts of lethargy, sometimes shaking and had nothing the vet could find wrong. Frustrating for sure. Get well soon Zoe!!!

| I wonder what could be wrong? Is that a real bone she's chewing on? That would be of concern to me.

| Well there's been a great change in Zoe. Tonight she is almost 98 percent. She's playing and eating and she has a happy face again. I still have to wait for the test results but the vet seems to think she ate something that disaggreed with her. We'll see. |

| OMG Waiting for the test results is making me crazy. The only good thing is that Zoe is 100 percent back to herself. I forgot to mention it before but the vet showed us Zoe's xrays and said she has a slight hip dysplasia which kind of answers the question about why she has a problem jumping on my bed. The vet told me to keep her at the weight she is at because she is a perfect weight and if she gets too heavy she's going to have a problem when she gets older. Thank God she's not really a bit eater and she's pretty active. Being that she's a shorkie I never thought of this. It kind of has me a little worried. Anybody ever deal with hip dysplasia? |
