| So Proud of Troy: Potty training story We live in an apartment so I started out Troy at 10 weeks with an ex-pen for potty training. The pen had pads, food, water, bed, etc. I also made a floor to cover my carpet. This worked real well until Troy decides he can climb out of the expen. So for about 3 months, I got lazy and Troy ended up being in the bathroom while I was away and I'd take him outside when I was home. To my surprise as he got older the more he liked being outside. I decided it might be best to crate train him like I did my other dogs before him. Because he was a yorkie I made excuses like his poop isn't that big, he can't do too much damage etc. But now realizing I tired of getting out the spot bot and attending to his messes that could be avoided. Crate training is the best option. During the day, he's in his crate and sleeps the day away. He loves going outside. My floors are clean and when he has to go, he goes to the door. So proud of Troy and me! At 15 months we are about 90% trained. |
