| Do you guys tip your groomer? and another question. Being that before Roxie, I never owned a yorkie, nor had a dog that needed a professional grooming, I have no clue about this. With our previous groomer I would always tip her, but is this common practice? I took her to a groomer here from work this morning, and I will pick her up around 3 or so, and I want to make sure that this is ok to do? Also on a different note, the groomer I went to this morning said that Roxies ears needed to be done the "yorkie way" or something like that, which meant shaving the tips I think? We also decided to go with shorter body and longer face, she also said that they shave down the middle of the nose for a neater cleaner look, does all this sound about right? Sorry for the millions of questions. Thanks. |

I'm assuming that she is talking about plucking the inside of the ears and shortening the hair on the outside of the ears to keep the weight off of them. Everything sounds good, and it sounds like you have a good groomer that has good communication. No worries; I'm sure everything will be fine. (:

| I tip my groomer as well. It's so hard to find a good one. Most of the time, the groomer will ask what I want done, instead of making suggestions. I hope that she turns out looking great, as I am sure she will. It sounds like the groomer you have chosen has done a lot of Yorkies.

| Yes, I tip my groomer. And I tip her VERY WELL because she takes excellent care of my babies. To me, that is priceless. Before she started her mobile grooming business she worked as the Salon Manager at our local PetSmart. Being that I don't bordo shot my dogs I would request that she call me 10 mins before she was done so that I could pick up one dog and drop off the next. And she ALWAYS did. She never put my dogs in a cage awaiting my return. If I was a few minutes late, my dogs would be sitting on a groomers lap waiting for me. As for the particulars you mention, it all sounds in order to me also. I do exactly the same thing for two out of three of my dogs. One I leave in full coat. Good luck!

| We tip ours as well....gets kind of pricey since we drop off all 5 at once, but well worth it. I wouldn't trade my groomer for the world.

| I tip my groomer. He is wonderful, and calls when Gio is ready so he doesn't have to go into a crate. He has never been in one, and I don't want to start now. I also tip him very well. Gio has a cotton coat so if there are any little mats forming he will take them out for me in between grooming.

| Yes. I found an AMAZING mobile groomer that comes (she does my dads 2 dogs as well) and she is sooo friendly, does exactly what I want, and is good to Jackson. He gets one-on-one time with her in her van, on my driveway, and is done within 45 minutes usually. She always does exactly what I ask of her (I keep Jackson short) and he always looks, smells and feels great. She charges $55 and I tip her $10. I was paying the same amount of money to drop him off somewhere for 4 hours and so a so-so job... so I'm very happy with it.

| Both my kiddos are $45, and I leave $5 each for tip... so in total, I give her $100 per visit. At Christmas, I give her an additional $100 gift. I tipped more when I was going to PetSmart and using a groomer there for a short time, but the lady who grooms mine now is the owner of the business and I always heard you don't tip an owner... however, this feels funny to me, so I still tip but not as much. I have given more in the past for certain things, like when I got back from vacation once they were super knotty, so I gave her extra knowing she had to work harder to untangle them... once when I was changing foods they had impacted anal glands and she took care of that for me, so I tipped her extra since its not a pleasant job and would have cost a lot more if I had to take both to the vet. |

| You should absolutely tip, just like you would your own hair stylist or waiter. I used a mobile groomer and she charged $49. I paid a total of 60, so a little more than 20 percent. She was well worth it. Now, since I have 3, I have invested in some good electric clippers, shears, nail clippers, hands free hair dryer, grooming arm, instructional DVD, etc, to do it myself. I can't believe how much longer it takes me than it used to take her! But, with 3, I really need to economize and although it is time consuming, it really isn't difficult. Just takes the right tools and some practice. But, yes, if you find a great groomer, show them your appreciation and they will always work with you.

| I tip my groomer. He's wonderful!! He also was a vet tech so he will alert me to anything that he thinks needs attention. He treats my little boy so well. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I tip VERY generously too! I work as a stylist part time and I am not sure how groomers are paid but I work strictly on commission and I sometimes I am supporting myself through tips. It really is a major part of my income.. So when tipping is involved I ALWAYS tip... |

YT 1000 Club Member | I don't tip mine but I never see her. I carry mine to my vets office and she works there. The associates carry them back and bring them back out so I don't know what she even looks like. |

| Well I just picked her up , her total bill was $35, that was for a bath, groom, bow, nails clipped and teeth brushed. So I tipped them 5 bucks, she seemed surprised that I did..But Roxie looks really good, the only thing I dont like is that they cut her top knot hair and I told them not too, but its not too big of a deal, she still looks fabulous, I really like them because they are so professional and nice. I will post pictures when I get home, she has already managed to get the bow out of her hair. I have her here at work with me, not supposed to , but she is hidden out in my office under my desk , quietly sleeping on my sweater..lol..Oh how I love this dog..lol.. |
