Ahhhh Shucks..is it a sign

I finally made the call to Dudley's breeder after MUCH thought, for a very long time....

Turns out she hasn't a litter in over a year..She's been busy remodeling her house and getting things in order. She does have 2 from the last litter that she did not "let go", she said she would love for me to have one for Dudley if i was interested...they are 14 months...I would rather a younger one for him...Should I take it as a sign as "it just wasn't meant to be, right now"
Now I'm confused..I know I read too deep into things like that

Would you be able to take Dudley to see them and see what he thinks?

Hi there. I also have a Dudley. lol!! 4lbs. of a little tornado. We also have schnauzers and after losing Mandy, my precious little girl, I felt like I was dying too. We decided to go ahead and get another schnauzer not to replace Mandy but I knew it would help too the others (dogs do grieve) and us too. My doctor bought their schnauzer from a vet that raises and shows them and they suggested I give him a call. At the time he only had 1 female and she was 5mo. old. He had planned on showing her but told me after talking to him awhile to come see her. I did and bought her and have never regreted it. I had always had puppies from the time they were babies but she had already been housebroke. Yessssss. Wonderful. She has just been a joy and a blessing. So don't feel because of the age it might be the wrong thing. It might really turn out to be great like with Lexi. She is 2 now and daddy's biggest fan. Hope you make the right choice.

It just might be a sign that you're meant to have a little older dog. Why not take Dudley to meet this other dog and see how the three of you get along?

How old is your lil Dudley? Maybe like others have said, go over there and see, u may fall madly in love...and maybe this lil one, has been waiting for you, all this time...

I would take it as a sign. I prefer getting a little older one.

14 months is hardly "old". I would take it as a sign that maybe you weren't meant to have a puppy right now. Instead, Dudley could have a ready made playmate.

I completely understand wanting a puppy and the feelings that go along with it :-)

BUT I would take little Dudley over there and see what he thinks. Think about it this way--Less training you have to do because they are probably pretty well trained and old enough to play with right now! I love the idea of Puppies, I love raising them and taking all the credit lol but like I said--might as well check them out. There will be no guessing on the color or size of them either! So much less work :-) Hope I helped persuade you a little bit lol

I have determined that i hate puppies.
they poop and pee everywhere, they cry at night, they need special food, they cant be left alone for even five minutes, and they don't know how to walk or play fetch or do any of the fun things.
I would get the older dog i think 14 months is perfect

An older dog does those same things if it hasn't been trained properly. Any dog at any age takes time, patience and affection.

The best thing to do is go with your heart. If it's right you'll know it either way.

I think 14 months is a great age! At 14 months, they are still playful and young but have probably resolved most of their "puppy" issues: the potty-training, the incessant chewing, the midnight whining...

Yes, I would be able to take Dudley with me, I couldn't imagine NOT having him be apart of it. He is 2 1/2 yr..I wasn't implying 14 mo as OLD for a dog, Dudley was 5 1/2 mo when we got him, I couldn't imagine getting one younger than that from a show breeder.
Dudley was pretty much trained when we got him, LOVED THAT

I spoke to Dudley's breeder and one of her friends has 2 female puppies with good lines that are "pet" quality which are younger
I was leaning more towards another male, but like hubby said, when we were looking and found Dudley, I wanted a female, LOL, I guess like you said:
Follow your heart and DUDLEY's
I'll be heading up next w/e too see them
There are a 2 other breeders in my area (that I have researched back when we were looking for Dud, that passed for me)that I'm going to contact as well....I got the itch now

I personally would not take it as a sign. Your post says you wanted a dog younger than 14 months. While I do think you should go see those 2, I also think it's a great idea to check other breeders (the one's you already researched and know are ok).

Even though you've got the itch, just don't rush into something immediately. You don't want to regret getting a 14 month old dog, when you really wanted a 5 month old. Just give it good thought. Either way - OMG you are getting Dudley a sibling!!

your right i completely agree i just think older dogs are esier to train and these dogs have been living with the breeder so they are trained im sure

I feel like Lizzy was still a puppy at 14 mos. Not by a long shot was she an adult dog! I think if one of the older puppies got along really well with Dudley, it might be a perfect match, and meant to be.
