Senior Yorkie Talker | My baby keeps peeing on the carpet I had Lexi since Feb 2010. Took her one month of constantly watching her before she mastered the puppy training pad. (She never liked potting outside, as baby, winter was too cold for her). She used to be in a playpen when I left for school and out when I came back home. Since she was soo good with pottying I decided to remove her play pen and allow her to walk around as she pleased with no accidents. She was good for 6 months. RECENTLY...I've been training her to potty outdoors, I've tried taking her out in the mornings, evenings and at night. The ONLY time she actually goes outdoors, is when I come home in the evenings. (note:she still has a pee pad indoors for when i'm at work and she doesn't seem to pee more than once while i'm gone). The more she peed and poo on our walks i'd praise her, she did really good the last two weeks outdoors, but this week, this week she peed on the carpet at least once a day when i'm away and once in the middle of the night. She no longer goes on her pee pad. I haven't been able to catch her at night or when im away so therefore I cant really punish her but I show her and tell her "no" and then show her the pee pad "yes" Do you think that she is confused with peeing outdoors? HELP!!! Need advice ASAP. *I had to bring out her play pen again today before I went to work.*

| my first yorkie, Felicity , i got in the winter in Nj and she was pad trained for the first year. When she was a year old we were spending our winters in Florida and taking her for walks and she started going outdoor. She too got confused and was peeing on the carpet, the pad and outdoors. i took away the pad and she still went on the carpet...uggg! Then i found that crating her at night, carring her outside and not letiing her on the carpet well. read about tradition crate training. you need to start from scratch. also when you let her out ..YOU NEED TO WALK her not just let her in a yard. i make it a point to walk in the morning and late afternoon, i have three now and they all poop during walks. the other 4 times i just take them in the yard good luck melissa |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks, at least i'm not alone. I'm going to confine her more even though I wish I didn't have to. I dont have time between the 9 hours that I have to go to work to take her out of a crate, so i'm leaving her in a play pen with a pee pad, is that a bad idea?? Im thinking of doing the 3 times a day 2 walks, one at 5am and 3:30am, break outdoors 9:30pm. I guess if im at work between 7-3:30 she'll have to use the playpen and pee on the pee pad unless someone can drop by and take her out. What do you think?

| you cannot leave a peepad and walk . if you need to work and confine her to an area with the peepad then do just that and ONLY that. if you walk her and peepad she will be confused and still go on the carpet. You live in Canada? correct? If i was here in NJ all year long with the terrible winters up north i would never take them out...just to play once in a while and just peepad train only. I am in Florida during the cold months so walking works for me all year and no confusion with the pups |
