What stuff should any of us looking to buy or adopt a yorkie have before hand?I know yorkies are a little more high maintnace then other breeds

You should have:

a crate/play pen
a bed
food and water bowls
a harness and lead
lots of toys
pee pads
a carrier
some of the food which the breeder is feeding the pup

A carseat is nice to have, but a small carrier, you can buckle in w/the seat belt, works too...You don't want the puppy on your lap, or your passenger's lap, in case the air bag were to deploy...

1 thing I didn't think of before my puppy came home was baby wipes for her bum. Sometimes it was a little messy and other than giving her a bath, the baby wipes worked great

Dont forget the grooming supplies! Shampoo, conditioner, a good pin brush, comb, grooming bands if you plan to do a topknot.

I had never thought to buy any of the supplies when I got Bella. :-) But after getting her, the first stop was Petsmart. The second was the vets office to take her papers in and get her in their system.

When I got home my husband asked me if all that stuff came with her. "Yep."

Nutrical. Always good to have, but essential if you are bringing home a little baby.

It did come w/her...it came right in the door w/her lol...

This one is for seniors, but they make one for puppies.

Nutri-cal is a high calorie, high glucose supplement that you use in case of hypoglycemic episodes.

Thank you. My vet told me to have some Karo syrup on hand. Does that work the same?

It's works the same in a hypoglycemic emergency. But the nutri-cal is a loose gel that I think is easier to get in to their mouth. Plus it's easy to throw the tube in to your purse when you go any where.
