| Would you? Canine DNA Testing Services | Dog DNA Test I know this has been discussed before but here is a site that one of my FB friends used and her results came back. She a mixed dog that she was not sure what it was. Not that it matters but still curious about Ollie. What if he didnt have any YORKIe in him??? Oh well, Id still love him.

Thor's Human Donating Member | From what I understand, those tests are totally unreliable. I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting back the results they expect. Also, I've never seen any documentation on what kind of markers they look for. Dog breeds are somewhat artificial and arbitrary. Some are very, very old, and some are pretty new. I don't think it's imprinted "Hi, I Am A _______" anywhere on the genome. So I guess what I'm saying is no, I wouldn't do it.

| I've heard bad and good things about these DNA tests. I've always been curious because I think Jackson is a Silky Terrier, but I don't know if that would even show up on a DNA test... Yorkies, Silky's and Australian Terriers are all from the same genes somewhere down the line so I dunno.... I may do it eventually just because I'm curious.

| I would be curious and guess I would do it just for fun...not taking it to serious but it would be neat to see. It doesn't hurt the furbabies in anyway as it is a cotton swab in the mouth ...hmmm...

| I know, that's what's been stopping me! eBay has a few... i've been looking at some of the bids, etc and if I can snatch up a cheap one, I feel like it'd be fun to do!

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I would be curious to find out what my older cross breed Jess is mixed with as I have always wondered. She looks like she has a bit of shnauzer in her but I'm not sure. Would still love her the same no matter what she was

| At this point, I wouldn't care if Lucy were yorkie mixed with Zebra. She's mine!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think of a pet differently, it doesn't really matter if he's purebred or not, he's mine and I love him, but since I also love the breed as a whole, I would like to see the breed continue in the future, so that's why I advocate only supporting good breeders. If you support good breeders, you don't need to do a DNA test.

| I think this is an individual decision/opinion for each dog owner. I have also heard the tests are unreliable, but still chose to have it done last summer for our off-the-street rescue girl Vivi. (It was my one and only birthday present from my DH) Really glad I did it, because I could not rest until I found out her breeds. And it was fun, too.
