Senior Yorkie Talker | Emma is a creature of habit!! Every night at 10 is bedtime for the furbabies. No matter where they are in the house (usually laying with Wayne on his perch in bed), I announce "Bedtime" and they come to the kitchen and get in their kennel (they listen so much better than my skin babies LOL). As of late, we have had some really hot, humid weather that has been in the 101 to 102 degree range. We do not have central heat and air but do have window units placed throughout the house. Last night, I moved Emma and Dawson's kennel in the front room where it is much cooler and announced "Bedtime" as usual. They both came trotting down the hall. Dawson went right in and Emma went straight to the kitchen where the kennel usually is. I kept looking at her and telling her to get in but for her that was a NO GO! She looked at me as if to say "that is not where I go when it is bedtime". She kept going back to its previous place. I finally had to shut the door with Dawson still in it, and pick it up with Dawson still in it, and put it back in the kitchen with Dawson still in it. Only after it was back in its original place would Emma go in and then I had to pick it up with both babies in it and move it back to the front room. Whew, alot of hard work just to go to bed! You should have seen the look on her face when she finally went in. It was like "I knew you would see things my way." I don't know but I think somewhere along the line I became the trainee instead of the trainer. God bless Emma and her habits!! | That's funny...Brandi is a creature of habit too. She also goes to bed at 10:00pm except she sleeps with me. She usually just jumps up on the bed and goes to sleep. Another one of her habits is our morning routine. I put Brandi in her ex-pen when I go to work. Without fail every morning I have to chase her through a 3-sty townhome to catch her. She such a little stinker....what she does is sit of the top stair and when she hears me coming she takes of running. You would think by now that I would put her in her ex-pen right after her morning potty while I get dressed but nooooo I rationalized that since I was away at work all day, I won't put her in her ex-pen until I am ready to leave. |

| Brandi hates going to her ex-pen but once she's in there, she does sleep most of the time. It's just getting her in there is the problem. I taught Brandi a few commands but she is so stubborn. I taught her the sit command but she only sits when she is ready AND she won't sit unless she sees that I have a treat. If I just tell her to sit without the treat, she looks at me like I'm crazy . We are still working on it. She definitely has me trained more than I have her trained. |

| If I stay up too late mine will cry and bark to tell me it is time for bed. They sleep in my bed. My lab, when she could still go up the stairs, always slept with my younger son. At 8 o'clock every night she would sit by the bottom of the stairs until he went up to go to bed, then she would follow with him. Now that she can't do the stairs, due to arthritis and old age, she sleeps at the foot of the stairs in her bed, which you now have to step over when you come down in the morning.
