New yorkie mom I stumbled across this page a few weeks ago when I first got my pup Lucy. It has given me some insight on yorkie ownership and also some need reassurace. We took her on a road trip to northern MN a week after we got her, I really didn't want to leave her at a kennel so soon. Luckily this site had a ton of helpful advice for camping and Lucy had a blast! I am really glad I joined and hope my future posts may help someone or at least make them chuckle.

| Hi and welcome I am new myself - just started posting on this forum a few days ago. I don't know that I have ever owned a yorkie - but I have Yorkies that own me LOL (jk) Congratulations on your new Yorkie. Yorkies are such a joy! I got my first Yorkie back around 1985, and had her for 15.1/2 years before she went to Rainbow Bridge. I have two now, Lil Bit and Beamer. I know what you mean about not leaving your baby at a kennel. I had to leave Beamer and Lil Bit at a kennel last October while my husband and I went on a 7 day cruise. I won't be leaving them there again. But we are booked on another cruise this October, so I am going to be looking for a different kennel. I hate the thought of kennelling them, but there isn't much choice. You will find lots of good advice on YT. Please post pics of your baby

New Mom of 7 month old Yorkie - Sammie - a few questions My daughter has 2 yorkies that I just love soooo much and I had talked about getting one in the fall - well she found Sammy and I got him this last Friday - fully potty trained and just the best - UNTIL - yesterday I left him in the kitchen with his crate to go in and out for potty purposes, toys, food and water and he barked a bit when I left (I listened outside the door and then he stopped) - so off to golf I went - he seemed fine when I got back home UNTIL he decided to poop and pee on the carpet and later he was just soooooo bad - like he was mad at me - what do I do. Also, I am having a bit of a problem getting him to eat and its very hot here in MI right now - he drinks good - I feed him Royal Canine Puppy 33 - any suggestions????

We camped at a state park in MN. We cheked online and made some phone calls to the campsites we stayed at ahead of time. We found plenty of sites that allowed pets and all they required was the dog be leashed at all times and that you picked up after your pet. We were camping in a tent so I made sure I packed her dog bed and some of her favorite toys along with a small dog tie-out. With the tie out we could attach her close to us at the picnic table and she was pretty content to sit and chew on her toys.

I use Eukanuba small breed puppy. I was a little worried when I first got Lucy because she did not seem to be eating much. However, she will tend to eat more if I am sitting close by or after an active play session. Everything I've read says that as long as they are still active, your dog is probably getting enough. I just make sure she has fresh water everyday and leave food in her bowl at all times so she can eat though out the day. It works for us
