| Lila had her LP surgery Hey all, I post infrequently but lurk very, very frequently. Anyway, I posted a while back about Lila having grade III LP on her right leg. So I took her in for surgery on tues at Animal Emergency and Referral Associates (Dr. Singer) for surgery and initially he was still unsure if he should do the surgery. I was very impressed with his knowledge and explanation (I'm a human doctor but he still he explained things easily). Anyway, we decided to proceed with surgery because Lila still has pain at times and I wouldn't be able to do the surgery until February. I picked her up on wed morning and she was in quite a bit of pain, and vomitted 3x. She's much better now, has a ton of energy. Confining her to her crate is a big pain but we're dealing. I've been walking her, and I give her some freedom when I'm with her but I don't let her walk too much (this is ok per my vet team). Her incision looks great and when she walks she's bearing weight which I think is great. Anyway, thanks for the assistance in finding a great surgeon! -Sessy and Lila

| So glad to hear her surgery went well! Lucy has LP on both legs but she is still a puppy and we are waiting until surgery is absolutely necessary. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so glad Lila's surgery went well. Pixie is 2 weeks post LP surgery and harder and harder to keep confined. I am letting her walk a few minutes several times a day and she appears to be bearing weight on it. How much walking is Lila allowed to do? When can it increase? Did they cut the bone and move it over too? I hope her recovery goes quickly. I know I am counting the days until I can lt Pixie go back to her normal life.

| So the vet told me to start walking right way, but that's the only thing she is allowed to do. She can go for a 5-10 min walk 3x daily, but I start PT next week with her. Also, when she's with me she doesn't need to be confined to her cage, she should be on a leash and not allowed to run/play/jump. The surgeon said he made a groove where the patella should be attached since she didn't have the groove.

| Thanks for the positive thoughts guys! As for Lila's PT, I was told to hold off until day post-op day 5. My surgeon said to only do flexion/extension of the knee/hip at that time. He does want me to let her walk alittle daily so I take her for short walks 3x daily. She still hasn't had a BM since the surgery on tuesday so I'm off to buy her metamucil. She has a fentanyl patch for pain control which I think is contributing to her constipation.
