Thor's Human Donating Member | Thor was bitten by another dog! By another yorkie, no less! This afternoon, I stopped by a pet store near my office. Thor has been in there many times, and met the owner's grumpy female yorkie several times. She's growled at him a bit, but the owner has actually closed the store and let them hang around each other. Once they actually greeted, she seemed rather shy around him. Anyway, Thor ran up to her, TOTALLY submissive - low body, wiggly, ears back, completely unthreatening. I don't know what was different today, but she not only bit him, she locked her jaws on his face! I was pulling on his leash, and I couldn't get him away. I was so completely shocked, I didn't know what to do. The owner rushed over and pulled her dog off. I thought Thor was going to be missing an eye, but he looked totally fine, no blood or anything. The owner was profusely apologetic, and of course I will never take Thor back in there. I can still feel the adrenaline pumping. Thor seemed totally fine as soon as I picked him up. He wasn't shaking, or crying, or barking, and it seemed like he forgot all about it as soon as we left the store. I just hope this doesn't make him even more afraid of dogs than he already is. Anyway, it could have been much worse, and thank heaven it was a bitchy little yorkie who is not even a pound bigger than him. I am still shocked though, as it was the most vicious attack I've seen, even if she was little. I'm so relieved he was not seriously hurt.

Wow how scary! I can't imagine how shocking that must of been for you. It's the worst to feel helpless at a time like that. Poor Thor, I hope he doesn't get scarred from this experience. Thankfully the lady said sorry, maybe she should keep her yorkie behind the counter or in another room. What if Thor was a tiny puppy. | |

| Oh my, I'm so sorry this happened to Thor and you, how awful. Just so glad, all is ok and hopefully no ill effects to meeting other dogs.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I'm sorry Thor was attacked but i'm glad he's ok. Honestly i would take him back to the store just so he's not scared of going places and meeting new dogs again. you know what they say, gotta get right back in the saddle. I'd continue to take him like you normally do but for the next few times hold him only and do not let him down. If he isn't scared then you shouldn't be either. don't let him feel your fear because that will just make him nervous. ask the owner to hold her dog and allow thor to smell only the rear half of her so he know its her and she isn't going to bite him again. Now you know she can be bitchy so just monitor them very closely. I would still allow him to see her but i just wouldn't allow them to interact again. Morgan has been attacked as well but i take her back to the same place again and again so she doesn't associate it with fear. While at the dog park there is usually one dog there who just won't leave morgan alone. i don't know what it is about her that just makes some dogs obsessed. she has also been pinned by a westie and a jack russle and accidentally sat on by an english bulldog puppy. that pup was just being lazy but morgan happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. LOL I also had a dog go off on her when i brought her to work with me one time. it was a cocker who just snapped. they had been fine all day together, playing with the other dogs but at the end of the day when i left to pull my car around closer to the shop he bit her on the head for no reason. she was shaken up at first but quickly got over it. And she still comes to work with me and still likes to greet/play with the other dogs.

| I'm so glad Thor is alright. I don't trust any dog around Prince, except his biological parents.

Thor's Human Donating Member | Thanks, you guys. I had no idea what to do. That's a good idea about bringing him into the store again, but in my arms. That reminds me of my bf in college - he was spotting a friend who was doing squats, and the friend fell or something. Being men, they made him repeat it right after so he wouldn't get scared. I thought that sounded so mean, but I guess it makes sense.

Thor's Human Donating Member | And ironically enough, I was on my way back from desensitizing him to skate boards. I take him to a local skate park for a few minutes whenever I can and give him jerky so he'll associate the noise with something good. Little did I know the real danger is cute little yorkies!

| Oh poor Thor! I'm glad he's ok, but I can only imagine! Uni's been nipped at, but I don't think one has ever made contact, thank goodness. When that happens, Uni is upset for a long time and gets foamy mouth from nervousness. I'm glad to hear it didn't really phase Thor. Did he cry out when he got bit?

Thor's Human Donating Member | There were horrible screamy noises when they were attached to each other, but my understanding is that those can be for display. I couldn't get over how calm Thor was when I picked him up. He shakes like a leaf when I take him somewhere in the car, but getting his face ripped off, that he takes in stride. I guess he could have been like, "THIS is why I bark at other dogs all the time. Because I want to keep my face. Now do you get it? Dumbass."

It usually sounds worse then it really is. Morgan screams too for silly little things sometimes. she stand there while i'm cutting her nails or plucking her ears and lets out these little yelps even though i am 100% sure i am not hurting her. that's the yorkies defense. LOL they're really thinking that if they look cute and tiny and let out a yelp whenever they don't like something they their mommies will feel so bad for them and won't ever do it again.
