| ?yorkie? coat I just got another yorkie on saturday from a kennel. He is 4months old and is black and tan no silver at all. His coat is growing out some what but not fuzzy and soft like my female was she was soft and fluffy... His hair is wiry and not soft or fluffy and I have been seeing his hair on my daughter shirt and some where he is laying. I asked the lady at the kennel IS HE FULL BLOODED yorkie and she said yes but there was soooooo many dogs I just wanted to save him. ????So im asking is he yorkie or a mixed breed????? Im so upset and dont know what to do |

| Did you buy him or adopt him. Does he have AKC papers and did you see both parents? Even papers don't guarantee that the dogs you might have seen were the parents. Do you have pictures you can post? If you purchased from a puppy mill the problem is that your purchase doesn't save him so much as it encourages the puppy miller to continue to breed for the $$$. It is hard to walk away from puppies in bad conditions but it's kind of like porn. (if people didn't buy it, they wouldn't sell it) In any case, I hope your new little boy grows up happy and healthy. I am in love with our little Yorkie so I know the Yorkie Love! Can't wait to see pics! PS, my Bella generally doesn't really shed (at least I never notice it) She mostly only loses hair during a grooming session.

| You state that you got him from a kennel with soooo many dogs, I assume why he needed saving was that it was not a great place. If it was not a great place, he could be a mixed breed. There are some yorkie pups that may have some hair particles that will remain on shirts and beeding depending on their coat type, especially when they are a pup. It also could be his diet as well and not getting enough nutrients. There really are many things that contribute to this. If you comb his coat - this will help. And then time will let you know what tyoe of coat he will have. My question is that you have had a litter already (back in late Jan.) and have other yorkies. Do you plan to breed this one? If was from a bad place, probably best to not use him for breeding. He is better to have neutered and just loved. His coat - it could be a wirery coat or could be a slow growing coat, it may or might not improve as he grows older. Since he is only 4 months - he is going to be still black and tan in color - he has not gone through the color change yet to the blue or silver. If you look under his coat near his shoulder you will probably see him break there soon. Sounds like you have a lot more research to be doing first, before breeding. |
