| My Charlie update Well, Charlie is about 5 months old now. (I only know he was born in January.) We've had him since mid-April, and he's still the love of our lives. We're still working on housebreaking, but the past few days have been great. I realized I made a HUGE mistake by putting out too many pee pads. Initially I thought it would be good since he was so little and couldn't/wouldn't do the stairs. My house is much bigger than where he came from, and I thought there would be less accidents if I put a few around. Now I have one down and he's using that occasionally but mostly going outside. He also had his first grooming! My daughter I were a wreck! He was a little anxious. But he did great, and he is even more gorgeous now. And he looks more like a baby again, IMO. (I know he's still a baby but he was starting to look older, mostly I think because he's a large-size Yorkie. He got a "real close" summer cut. He had a little matting so there was really no choice but it's really cute. And I think it will be better for the hot weather. He seemed more bothered by the heat when his hair was long. He's a really fast learner!! My daughter is training him and she's doing an amazing job. (She's a real natural with all animals.) We're so blessed with him. I need to make an appointment for his neutering. I'll be a real wreck with that. I've got to put the money aside for it. I think I could really do it at any time now since he's 5 months and pretty heavy. (Though I'm curious if he weighs much less with less hair. He definitely feels lighter when I pick him up.) |
