| New puppy/adaption advice I'm FINALLY getting the new little addition to my dog family this week, and would love some advice on how to safely and effectively get my dog and the new puppy acquainted! I currently have a very friendly male yorkie but he's very "in your face" so he might be a lot to handle for the new little girl. What's the best way to get the two little friends adapted to one another? Also, can my dog (1 1/2 years old) switch over to puppy food again so that they can eat the same food? He's a grazer and likes his food left out so I was thinking having them share might just be the easiest for both of them. Thanks! |

| I would start off slow, You might want to seperate them with a baby gate and allow them to sniff each other. Puppy food will probably give your older dog diarrhea. Good Luck and send some pics of your new baby. Lissette |

| We recently added a new female puppy to our family and same situation we had a 1 1/2 yr old male. Just supervise them and they will be fine, after a few days they will be fast friends! I'm home all day but when we go out for short times I put her in an xpen as I am not ready to give her run of the house yet.
