| 5 yr old bit my daughter, How do I handle it I got Toby a month ago from a lady who was temp homeing him, She got him from an older couple that were/are living in elderly housing with no pets allowed. He is aggressive and the other day he came around the corner when my daughter (in her 30's )was her, and went right after her and jumping up and bitting her, he did break skin, he is UTD on all shots. My daughter will not visit until Toby is out of the house and will not let the grandchildren visit.. How do I find a good home for a dog that bites? Taking him on walks he sees someone and wants to go after them. Suggestion? Answers? Thank you all in advance for you time |

| How sad~my suggestion would not to try to rehome him yourself and to contact a rescue in your area. Rescues will make sure to rehad before trying to rehome so that things like are less likely to happen. I have seen things like this happen on YT where people have tried to rehome on their own and the pup comes back-more than once. In the mean time, I would keep him on a leash at all times so that you can control his behavior. I am wondering if he was guarding something or if something else was going on. Was she coming toward you? Food? Bed? Many times someone says that a dog is aggressive but really it is guarding. YHR does not have any foster homes in your area but you might try to contact YTNR or UYR. My suggestion would be to surrender to a reputable rescue who would be willing to work with his issues and find a home with a good fit to his personality and issues. I'm so sorry that this has happened and is one of the biggest reasons that many times you will see members here suggesting contacting a rescue vs trying to rehome yourself.

| Agreed with everyone here... this dog should only be placed by people who know what they are doing... Good Luck.

| Just wondering what happen to the 5 year rescue you got back in March, I know from reading your prior post you were disappointed in her lack of potty training , then I noticed you didnt post any pictures, did you end up getting rid of her, or perhaps , the biting is because you have added two new dogs since March... sometimes they get territorial and may just be biting to protect you and or your home and not from aggression? My little one always gets a little territoral around new dogs but it doesnt last to long!!! Sometimes its just a little confusion and they get over it.. Good luck would love to see pics of all three of your new rescue!!!

| I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I agree with your daughter, she has to protect her children. This dog needs to be evaluated and trained by a professional. |

| I totally agree with Magansmomma. If your planning on keeping this dog, it's important to get a trainer. He's only been with your for a month and he's probably still scared wondering where his last home went! There's always a reason for a dog biting and a professional can find it. Please don't rehome him. It wouldn't be fair to him because he needs to be evaluated. Biting does not make him bad. He seems insecure which may be the reason for the bite. Good luck to you and him. |
