My 9 month old Yorkie is very shy and withdrawn. She plays with her sister if it is just the two of them but doesn't want any interaction with us. Runs if we call her and walk toward her to pick her up. Doesn't care if everyone is in the other room, laughing and playing with the other dog ~~ happy to just stay in the kitchen on her pillow. We got her at 11 weeks and she doesn't seem to be getting any better. Had her tested for liver shunt and liver bile acids were 55 but not high enough that the Vet felt liver shunt might be an issue. She is tiny, 2.07 lbs. Vets says she is developmently slow.
Any ideas as to what might be going on with liver bile acids and her personality?

I'm sorry I'm not sure what could be wrong. My Sofia is very small as well and is about as opposite as she could be to the description you gave. I don't think it has anything to do with her size. Have you given her some nutri-cal? s
Sometimes that can perk them up. Has she always been this way? Maybe that is normal for her. Where did you buy her from, maybe she did not get proper socialization as a puppy. Maybe you could work with her more on that, by taking her out with people a little more, Im not really sure. Maybe some of the professionals can help better. Good luck.

People tend to forget that just like people animals all have distinct personalities. You just might have a shy one on your hands!!

We have three Yorkies, one is very outgoing, one is sweet and loves everyone, and then one is very shy. All raised the same, just different personalities. Our little one (Isis) is the shy one. We raised her from birth, so there haven't been any outside issues. I can't understand either.

Our lil girl bonded with one of her boxer brothers instead of us. She could have cared less if we were around as long as she had him. She is a year and half now and about 6 months ago she started having more to do with us. (more my husband than me) Maybe your yorkie will change as she gets older.
