| Our daughter and family have a knew 7 month old puppy Our daughter and family have a 7 month old puppy he as a pitbull/doberman, should I trust it to pay with my Yorky, I was so worried when I learnt that her knew pup had pitbull in him, our daughter has known this pup from a young pup, and she says it has a good nature, but my little yorkie is our baby, and I wouldn't like the chance of him getting hurt, our yorkie is 9 months old. What should we do. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Hi - my son and his girlfriend have 2 pitbulls (1 puppy and 1 adult) While they make me nervous, they are so gentle around my 2 grandsons (5yrs and 9 months). Personally I won't let them play with Bridget mostly because of the size difference. Bridget is 5lbs and these dogs are 40 and 80 lbs. With that much of a difference accidents happen - they could get nipped, or stepped on, just playing and the outcome could be awful - not to mention the strain I think it may put on the family relationship. I, myself don't want to take that chance. It's not so much the breed because I believe that the behavior has much to do with the way they are raised. There was just a thread on YT in the last day or so where a lady was walking her 2 Yorkies, on leashes and a Dalmation came from no where and attacked them. I think any dog has the ability to be passive or aggressive - but why take the chance of one so large and strong. I realize that your daughters is still a puppy, so maybe it can be taught to be more gentle - I guess it would depend if they were together often enough for the other dog to remember to be gentle with yours. I have a 20 lb cat and when they get to playing sometimes it gets a little too rough for my liking. This is just my opinion - and we all know what they say about those...lol!!!

| I can certainly under stand hearing the word pitbull, would imm. put you on alert, it would me too...I know alot of ppl think, and they maybe exactly right, that it is not the breed, it is the owner, but I on the other hand think they can just snap...you always hear after an attack, Oh he was always so gentle and kind..BUT THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION ONLY.. I would be worried about the size, even a big sweet dog, that loves to play, could hurt a small dog, just by knocking them, innocently..I don't let my big dog play with mine, even though they look through the glass door at each other and wag there tails...just would rather be safe than sorry.
