YT Addict | Ring the Bell? Hello friends.......my puppies are now 7 months and 5 months and when I stepped in 2 puddles on my freshly cleaned floor, I finally decided it was time to get serious about the potty training. I ordered the book "How to Housebreak Your Puppy in 7 days" yesterday, and now I am on a mission to find the bell that goes by the door. Does anyone use this method? Where can I find the bell? My husband, my floors and I will be a'thanking ya!!

| i use small wind chimes at the back door, i rang it everytime we went outside and chanted ''outside pee pee outside''.. now both Bella and Sofia will ring the chimes with their nose when they want to go out. and i give a good girl treat when they come back in. small wind chimes are easler to move than a big bear or cow bell. hope this helps it sure helped us. | I am training mine to use the bell too. Just get any bell or bells from the hardware store. I'm using 3 med size Christmas bells tied on a thin rope. It hangs from a nail next to the door. They are catching on. All you do is ring the bell everytime you take them out to pee. I say "lets go outside"...they come running to the door, when they are at the door (don't open it yet) ring the bell, then open the door. Say whatever you say to have them go pee. I say "hurry up, hurry up" and as they are peeing, I say "good hurry up, good hurry up". My old dog would pee on command...I hope these babies will learn it too. That's how I'm doing it...hope it helps.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I use a bell with my older dogs- it's wonderful. I need to lower it so Rhett can join in. Just a hint though, don't hang it directly on the door- otherwise, every time you open it, they think they should go out! Hang it on the wall next to the door. As for finding the bells- Do you have a Michael's or JoAnn's around you? They carry bells in all different sizes year round.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Well not sure if others experience this but Razz is very good about ringing his bell to wee wee, how-ever he now knows that bell=out and so anytime he wants out in the backyard he rings the bell. Depending upon how many birds, n squirrels are travelling through the backyard the bell can be pretty busy.

I could do that. The only thing I am concerned about is I don't think DH will want me to put a nail in the wall or door. But I could use a small thumbtack.

| We use a desk service bell - just put it on the floor by the door. Bailey paws at it to tell us that she wants out. $5 at office depot.
