| Help..How much longer will she be in heat!!! My Mee-kah started her heat March 29, 2010. before that day there was a bit of brownish discharge and then she began her bleeding cycle. She bleed for two weeks and then it started being less.... NOW that we are looking at April 22, 2010, she might of stopped completely bleeding AND is in her most "fertile" days i would guess because my other dog, Sharpie is going insaneeee with her! He does not stop following her everywhere, we are constantly supervising them. Sharpie has begun to pee all over the house, he was house trainned but now he is peein EVERYWHERE, the DH fixes computers on the side and sharpie has peed on this one computer TWICE already!!!!!!!!!! What do i do? How much longer will Mee-kah be like this? the DH is very mad at sharpie and wants to get rid of him :'( so kind of a stressful situation. Can one of you offer me some advice ( i am getting the male neutered i beliave in a couple of weeks) besides that, is there an immidiate way of fixing this issue? They are both my dogs and i love both of them to death i just need to keep things at home quiet and calm till Mee-kah's heat days are over.. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

| The length of the heat is something that one of the breeders will be able to answer. He is marking because of your female being in heat. I know you said that they are constantly supervised but accidents can and do happen penetration/locking does not even have to happen. The only way that you can be absolutely sure there is no pregnancy is to keep one locked in a crate at all times and alternate who is allowed out. There have even been stories where the male has broken out of the crate for an in season female. If he is allowed to mate with the female the marking could/will become even worse and many times there is also a personality change. I would suggest that you also have your female spayed.

| you absolutely NEED to keep them in SEPERATE rooms. Heat cycles last 3-4 weeks. Until you get your boy nuetered, get him a belly band.. It will keep him from marking everything and hubby will calm down. Just keep in mind that it will NOT keep him from getting to your girl if he gets half a chance. you can get belly bands at any pet supply.

| Both mine were diapered (once we found out she was in heat) and he was still able to get to her! Be very careful! The advice above is great! I have a little sweetie pie pup as a result of "an accident!" Hope all goes well and it goes by fast! I feel for you believe me! :-) |

| Diapers, belly bands, crating have ALL failed when it comes to a female in heat. Also, do not allow her out in the yard alone. When a female is in heat her scent can be a signal for males MILES away to come over for a visit! For a quick fix your local Petsmart of Petco is a great source for belly bands. There are also members on YT that make and sell them as well. The YHR Boutique has them in stock and if you order LadyJane would make sure they reached you quickly. Here is the link: Belly Bands :: Yorkie Haven Rescue Boutique You will need several if he is marking. It is a good idea to put a feminine pad inside the band to help with absorbing the urine.

| Every dog is different, they can last 2 weeks up to a month, just make sure you don't have your dog around any other males whom aren't neutered!
