| Does an extremely hyper Yorkie outgrow it? I forgot to mention earlier that Romeo, my 6 month old Yorkie is extremely hyperactive. My 2 females are calm and just want to be in my lap being petted. Romeo acts like he has drank a pot of coffee. He antagionizes the girls. Jumps all over everything and chews up everything. Will he outgrow this behavior or is this a lifetime behavior? Could this also be a sign that he is mixed breed or are some Yorkies hyper?

| Nala just turned one (Happy Birthday) and she still fits her nickname "crackhead"!! She's nuts!! She runs around and around and always wants to play fetch, and she goes to doggie day care once a week and even the doggie daycare lady is shocked by how she never stops moving. At night time she's finally started cuddling, but she's still EXTREMELY hyper!! For example, today we went for a walk with my two dogs and Jackson (Britster) around a 4 mile circle and when we got back Nala and Jackson were wrestling and running around for at least another hour before they camled down. Soooooo.... I really don't know the answer to your question. Bandit definitely had puppy energy when he was younger but nothing like this!!! |

| It is not normal for yorkies to be extremly hyper. I saw your video and in my honest opinion I would not breed him. He is not to size, nor to standard. He is a very nice pet and I am sure you love him a lot. Often personalities are passed down. I see this in my own pups. P.S. Where did you get your avitar photo? | I had a very difficult time dealing with a hyperactive Yorkie when I groomed and boarded. They upset a household. Why take the chance of producing more..these are the unfortunate ones who are passed from home to home...I got so many as rescues..some times neutering helped, but only in a few cases. |

| I just checked back on your other posts and how you got Romeo. I am so sorry of the place where he came from - saw the photo of his mother in the concrete pin you shared - and you are right she did not look happy. I would diffently not breed him. And this could explain his hyperactivety. $500. (what you said you paid for Romeo) is not very much for a yorkie in our area. Sounds like you may have made a rescue. |

| Chloe is going on 6 months now. She sleeps alot of the time and in between has her bouts of energy where we must play catch or walk in order for her to burn some off. Otherwise I'd say she likes to lounge, sit in my lap, and be lazy... Hope that helps. |

| My girl is kinda hyper, but I wouldn't say extremely...Buzz, my boy, is much more laid back...I guess it's like humans, some are type A and some type B personality...I don't know anything about breeding, and would never breed for that reason...In answer to your question, Apple is almost 18 months old, and doesn't show any signs of "going mellow"...Buzz is 8 months old, and I'm sure he'll stay laid back, too... |

| My Shay is very laid back...and Bella? she goes 100 miles an hour...lol..BIG change for us here... I am hoping she will start to calm down as she matures, she just needs a lil more attention being a baby and all, I think. Do you wear him out when playing with him? he may just need a lil more exercise...since mine don't go outside (not safe up here in the mt.s) I run around the kitchen island and they run after me...Shay will poop out..lol..takes a lil longer for Miss Bella...but it helps alot..(good exercise for me too...lol)

| Lola is very hyper most of the time. I think thats why she has been rehomed so many times. Personally it doesn't bother me, one of the reasons I bought another yorkie so they could play together. Luckily Zach gets his hyper moments and tires her out. They are two months apart, Lola being older. She is 17 months and is as hyper was she was when I brought her home when she was 10 months. If she wasn't hyper I would think something was the matter with her. |

| I would try to embrace his zest for life! My Linus has always been very calm, even as a baby. BUT Kimchee was a different matter. He was like a lightning bolt zinging everywhere all day, waking up at 5am each morning jumping around, and always, always wanting to play and/or start trouble with Linus. Around 1 1/2, he started to calm down a bit, and now at 2 yrs, he's a joy. He is still a lot more hyper than Linus, but he has definitely calmed down. And, now I love that he's always bursting with joy and ready to play and wouldn't want him any other way! |
