| My yorkie is acting a little out of character I let my yorkie sleep with me. He always sleeps right on the side of me on top of the blankets closest to the edge of the bed. Everynight. And he will stay right by my side until I wake up. If I am sick and stay in bed until 4 pm.. he's right there. Of coarse, he does get up to eat or go if he needs to, and he'll even get up for a minute if he feels like playing with the cat. But he always comes right back and is right there until I get up. Well all of a sudden he doesn't want to sleep on the bed anymore. At night if I put him on the bed, he'll jump off and run into the living room and sleep by the front door???? He doesn't even want to be in the room.. I couldn't understand why. I laid on the living room couch lastnight just to see if he would jump up and lay next to me and he did. So for some reason he doesn't want to sleep in the room anymore. Which is fine with me. I can make a bed out in the living room for him. I'm just concerned with what would be causing him to act so differently all of a sudden. The sleeping right next to the front door is the most bothersom part for me. He still plays and wants to go for walks and whines when he's wanting something from me. So all in all he seems ok. But what could be causing the sleeping by the front door at night?? Strange?? |

| If he's not asking to go out then I'd just let him do his thing. Who knows what goes threw their heads at times. I understand how comforting it is to have them close, I've gotten so use to it I also miss Bud when he get's down, it wakes me right up but he comes back within minutes. Give him some time, he'll get lonely and come back to Momma in time. You'll see. |

| It probably hurts your feelings, doesn't it? He's young yet, so perhaps it is just a temporary thing. I would make a bed for him in the other room for now. Do you have stairs to your bed? If so, I would imagine that if you just go to bed then he'll show up in good time. I was also wondering if he'd been neutered?

| No he's not nuetered. It's on my to do list. And they're no steps, but the bed is not that high off the ground. He can easily jump up onto it. He does all the time. It's been like 3 nights that he refuses to sleep in the room at all. It did kind of hurt my feelings at first.. haha! But then I just tell my self, let him be. I have been busy more because I just went back to college and am gone mon-thurs from 6-9. And also, been doing a little work here and there. But when I'm gone he's here with my daughter and my roommate. I'll just give him his space.. lol how funny. we really do treat them like one of us sometimes. But he is my bestfriend.. |

| Jackson went through this for a few weeks. He was probably around 7-8 months old. He suddenly didn't wanna sleep on my bed, and would prefer to go under the bed or sleep in his doggy bed on the floor. It made me so sad. lol. But then suddenly, he started sleeping with me again. Who knows what goes on in their heads but he happily sleeps at my feet every night.

That's a great idea! That is what I'm doing with Cerise in the morning and in the evenings, the moment I come home. It settles her down.

| Apparently, YOU are his person of the household that he prefers. Perhaps a bit more attention when you can give it, like the walks and maybe some playing time, and he will be happy again. He might just be mad at you.

| Daisy did this to me when she was about 3 years old after my daughter came to stay with me and she brought her yorkie. Then she started again for 2 nights after we brought Pixie home. I would get up in the middle of the night and love on her and cover with a blanket and before long she joined me in Bed. Now she is a major bed hog!!! lol I love them sleeping with me though. Some nights Daisy will get up and go in the living room for a couple hours but mostly she sleeps with me.

I still have homework to do b4 school tonight! |

| It could be several things. Maybe it is cooler by the door. Maybe he is turning into a guard dog and is guarding the door, or maybe he wants to be sure and not miss you when you leave. |

| Just recently my Abby (11 mo. old) has done the same thing. When I first got her if I went to bed first she would lay on the bed with me until my husband came to bed then I would put her in her crate and after a few minutes she would settle down and sleep all night. Then my husband said it's OK, just leave her on the bed. Now he can't stand it if she's not in bed with us. A couple of weeks ago she started wanting to sleep under the bed. If she goes to sleep in bed with us, during the night she will whine and paw at me until I let her down and she will get under the bed. It's driving my husband crazy. I figure she gets tired of waking up all night when we move our feet around during our sleep and kick her. |

| Rio has those occasional nights where she doesn't want to sleep on the bed with us. One time she jumped off the bed when we had a loud thunderstorm - she was so scared! Another time something fell off our dresser after we had alreading turned off the bedroom lights and that scared her enough that she didn't want to sleep on the bed. I've put her crate (with the door taken off) in our room to give her another sleeping option should she choose not to sleep with us on any particular night. But like most of you, she usually ends back up on the bed with us before the morning. it DOES hurt our feelings when she leaves - we have such a hard time falling asleep when she's not in bed with us! Maybe your furbaby had a bad dream, or a bad experience in your room recently? |
