I had a woman offer me her 3 year old 3 pound yorkie girl for 50 bucks she is having hip surgery and cant care for her. it was her late husbands dog and she said the dog never really took to her. she come out of her house when she seen me walking Gatsby (a friend told her to watch for us) well the funny thing was the boyfriend and i wear talking about another yorkie because he just got a 4 dollar raise
now i need convinced i shouldent bring this teeny tiny dog into my home Gatsby is 6 pounds and while he is gental i worry about him humping her(she is fixed, Gatsby is not) i also worry about her playing with the other dogs and getting hurt not to mention i know nothing about her she is sweet i did get to meet her
so every one tell me all the things against getting a small dog PLEASE

Sorry, I can't think of a thing to discourage you .
However, I would have her vet checked and have your yorkie
meet her in neutral territory before you commit.

Sounds as if your mind is already made up. Do what feels right for you situation, not what others think. Best of luck, and whatever you decide will be the right choice.

Honestly, I don't have my dog yet. 3 more weeks. But... I have done a lot of research, months of it, before deciding to get a yorkie.

This was what I concluded: The small ones are cute, but they are extremely delicate. They often have more health problems because of their small size, which means more vet bills. When I talked to the breeder I was getting my dog from, I made sure she knew that I wanted the dog to be in the weight range standards which is 4-7 lbs. I am hoping for around 6 lb. like your dog. It sounds perfect to me. I wouldn't take the tiny one for the reasons I mentioned, and also because you don't know all the training and history. I admire people who like to take in dogs or rescue dogs, but you don't know what habits you are getting. My preference was to train from puppy on up. I'd pass on the 3 pounder, but that is me.

It doesn't sound as though you're comfortable taking such a little one. If you decide not to take her, please discuss with her current owner the option of turning her over to a good rescue. A good rescue will thoroughly screen potential new homes and verify veterinary references. For little ones like this one especially, it's important that she not go just anywhere. Please let us know what happens.

the problem is that i really want her she is so sweet and she seems sad i just worry for her safety in my home not only is my smallest twice her size but i also have a 45 pound dog

Yikes! Too scary to entertain the thought of a 3 lb. dog and a 45 lb. dog in the same room. I wouldn't.

Many here have lage Dominent Dogs that get along just fine with Yorkies. Why our Yorkie lets our 125 Cane Corso to sleep in her house! You just have to take it slow at first.....Our Yorkie has not harmed the large dog at all.

Take the dog to your home to see how your dogs react to her. there really is no reason why you can't take her if your dogs get along with her.

Many people have big dogs and little dogs. your 45 pound dog could hurt your 6 pounder just asd easily as he could hurt the 3 pounder.

The thing with dogs, unless they are dog aggressive, they will not injur another dog.

So if you really want the dog, take her to your house and see how it goes.

Also I would get your male neutered. It's the responsible thing to do.
