| I get 2 kinds of questions, Some ask me how much (I never tell how much) because then they say I would never pay money for a dog. Others will tell me how much they paid for their dog, I guess that their dog is better then mine

| I get asked that question quite often, I think it is so rude and would never ask that!

I would say, "I would never pay for a DOG either, that is why I bought Cerise, my YORKSHIRE TERRIER" and then look at them like they are CRAZY and walk away!

| This is the line I use when I am asked the how much question or the "is she for sale" question "I don't know how much you have in your banking account, but if you take all that you have and triple it, you wouldn't have 1/2 the amount." I usually get a look as I |

| I tell him how much he cost me so far (purchase price and vet visits and premium food). I've had him for 3 years so that figure usually turns them running in the other direction. If they stick around and are still interested. I use it as an educational opportunity. I got Jamie from a lady whose daughters yorkie boy and her yorkie girl had an "uh oh" litter. Thankfully both mommy and daddy came from good breeders and were good representations of the breed. So Jamie is a beautiful, sweet boy but he also has an underbite and LP in his knees. I explain how important it is to really educate themselves on temperment and food and medical needs and to find an experienced caring breeder. I refer people here and also to a couple of really great breeders in the state. I know anytime someone sees my sweet baby they're gonna want a yorkie. I make it look so easy. Especially around tax time people can easily come up with the $800 we paid for Jamie. I want to make sure that people understand that owning a dog is a long term commitment and that having a yorkie is just like having a baby, time consuming and expensive!

| I agree with you all - it's a rude question and I don't divulge what I paid. I think the scariest times are when I'm alone walking Rio and strangers ask me. You know when you have that feeling in your gut that their curiosity is coming from a more "sinister" motive. Don't get me wrong, it's not like a I live in a not-so-desirable community. I live in a quiet suburb of the SF Bay Area. I guess I'm paranoid. |

| I get asked that once or twice each time I'm out with Josephine. I have yet to have an outing without that question. Yes, yorkies have a rep. for being expensive, but so are braces, but you don't see people going up to strangers asking them how much those cost them. It's just rude. I mean it really irks me. I usually just take it and give them a cutesy answer and flash a smile, but just recently I cracked. Enough was enough. I am in the Hallmark store minding my own buissness and this lady, with so much botox in her face she looks like an alien, approaches me and starts asking me if Josephine is yippy and when I say no, we picked her breeder because of the disposition of their dogs, she gives me this look like "BS". Which I was impressed with because I didn't think her face was capable of movement. Then she asks the question, "Oh how much did you pay for it?" "Oh I just stole her." She sort of half laughs, but stops when I don't join in. The whole time my whole demeanor is just deadpan. She kinda looks around to see if anyone heard me and then makes a hurried excuse and leaves the store. Worth it. |

| I think some people have nothing better to do then get their noses in other peoples business. Its rude and annoying. I have a buggy for my boys and I have had people say... "You actually have a buggy for your dog?" Did you buy it like that or did you create it.. usualy said in a laugh. I just say yea, whats it to ya. I can't stand people that are rude. I had a few that said... OH COOL a doggie buggy, I bet you like knowing where your babys are at all times, I agree and let out a sigh!! lol

| Well for me it depends on who's asking the question. If it's a random stranger just being rude I just ignore the question. However, if its' someone who I think is actually interested in buying a Yorkie then I'll tell them all the research I did before I bought mine and refer them to the YTCA website for a breeder referral and normally I don't mind telling them how much mine cost. |
