| ![]() Hello, I am new to this and was hoping someone could help me, I have been in touch with this breeder I am suppost to get a yorkie pup from and she has been really great answering all of my questions and yesterday I went to meet her and the puppies, she also has 5 adult yorkies, one of them she shows, she had 2 litters but only two puppies were still available, the only problem with them is that they seemed skiddish of us, they sniffed my hand and licked it but whenever i went to pet it they ran away, they are 11 weeks now and she said that we are the first strangers they have been around, but she plans on socializing them some more. She wants to keep them for another month so they can have 2 more sets of shots and be micro chipped. My only concern is will they be socialized and wont it be even harder to housebreak if they are that old? I know they are usually around 12 weeks when there ready to go but he will be at least 15. Is this normal? I am paying $1800 for a male which I feel is alot of money, I want to make sure I get a happy dog! Can someone please help me, or let me know of any good breeders in the Illinois area, I have already been on the ytca. websit. Thank You |

| ![]() On my site we list breeders that have filled out extensive surveys and only those who pass as reputable breeders. Here are those we have for Illinois: Stilton Yorkshire Terriers Barbara Meskan Skokie, IL Phone: 847-673-6247 E-mail: YorkRescue@aol.com Windwood Sandra Aroch Elwood, Illinois 60421 Phone: 815-423-5890 E-mail: windwoodyorkies@msn.com You might want to look in states that are in driving distance too. Hope that helps! |

| ![]() To me 1800 is a lot for a pet quality pup. I didn't even pay that for my show quality dogs. At 11 weeks those pups should have already had some socializing, especially if she is a show breeder. My show friends seen and held my puppies while they were growing, of course only after the first set of shots, and by 12 weeks my pups were happy to greet new people that came into my home. I hope that you are getting a health guarantee with your pup, one that is good for genetic problems like Liver Shunt. |

| ![]() I wouldn't worry, puppies are VERY adaptable. Just think of the older rescue dogs who had terrible pasts and end up being very friendly and sociable. It all depends on how you treat them not their former owners in my opinion! Just try to be patient, I looked for 7 months before I found the right breeder and then had to wait 7 weeks for Mia to be old enough to come home! |

| ![]() Hi, I'm from Illinois, too (Chicago to be exact) I contacted the YTCA recommended breeders in Illinois -- no puppies for awhile from what they told me a couple weeks ago (before I got Stewie). Barb from Skokie doesn't answer e-mails, so I'd call if I were you. The YTCA Wisconsin breeders all had puppies available for alll less than $1200 from what I remember. I did some extensive research for months before I got Stewie... and he's sick. I'd definitely take MMYorkies' advice and get a health guarantee.

![]() ![]() I am sorry, but I think you sound like you have found a reputable breeder and I dont think 1800.00 is too much to spend on a HEALTHY puppy, with all but its last shots and microchipped, etc. Dont worry about the babies being a little unfamiliar with strangers...and babies adapt very quickly to their new homes....you want to look deeper at that baby...more its personality....does it warm up to you during the visit? how does it interact with littermates and the others in the family, people and things it is familiar with.....if the baby cowers and slinks around with things that are familiar to him, then you may have an issue with socialization as it is clearly a personality trait....rethink this situation...I think you have done a good job and have found a breeder that appears reputable, especially keeping the baby for as long as she is...that is costing her $$$$ every day she has that baby.....which is why unethical "breeders" throw their babies out at 6-8 weeks of age...she is going above and beyond the normally acceptable length of time for a breeder to hold onto a baby, for WHATEVER reason she has....she is concerned about her babies....I do not think you have ANY concerns about this. | |

Was hoping there are still some of the “old timers “ as I am also looking for a little female to help heal my heart after losing Abby 3 months ago. Thought I could get some suggestions for current reputable breeders.
