| Will my yorkie change too much? I have a three year old male yorkie and he is very attached to my husband and me. Every where I walk he follows and when my husband comes home from work he waits at the door jumping and so excited. We love the fact that he is so close to both of us but sometimes he seems sad. when we sit on the couch to watch tv he will walk over to his little bed and just curl up on it. Sometime he will want to play with a toy and we will play fetch but he has not wanted to do that very much lately. We though about getting another yorkie so that he would have a friend just like him but, we don't want him to become so attached to his new friend that he will no longer want to spend time with us. We thought about getting a little female but we also don't want him to start marking his territory. I guess my question would be: If we did get him a female friend will he mark up the house and not wait to have as much to do with us? If we were to get another male: would they fight and would they both mark up the house? Thank you in advance for your response |

| Is he neutered? If hes neutered he shouldnt mark. I have 2 a male and a female and they are both still very close to us. Yorkies are dependent on their human owners so I dont think you have to worry about his personality changing

| One of the best things I've done thus far as a Yorkie owner was to bring Ivan into our home as a companion to Sophie. Although it was ME who wanted Ivan, I introduced him to Sophie as "look what Mama got for you". She was in love at first site and the first night they slept side by side in their beds on floor beside my bed. Then they shared a bed for a few nights. You can see a pic of that in my album. Now, nearly 6 months later they are never far apart from each other. And if they do find themselves in separate rooms, one or the other will give a short bark to let the other know where he/she is. It's really quite sweet! However, each of them still very much want and need their Mommy. Sophie will still bark for me to sit down on the floor with her and Ivan attaches to my hip as soon as I sit down on the coach. Both follow me around the house most of the time when I am home. I wouldn't worry in the least about your Yorkie not wanting you anymore and I'm sure he would love a new friend. Good luck in your decision!

YT 2000 Club Member | We had Prissy, our toy poodle for 7 years before we got Jasmine our precious little yorkie girl. Prissy was very attached to us and spoiled rotten, but when we brought Jasmine home she took her in and started mothering her. They love each other. They both have to have their own time with us. Jasmine is Mommy's girl and Prissy is daddy's girl. Now Jasmine is a year old and they are always together. We are really glad that we got Jasmine, Prissy is so much younger acting now.
