| Help! Tearing up the bathroom door! Susan doesn't get left home alone much, but sometimes she has to be. She stays in the bathroom then with her crate (door open), her water and her toys. I can hear her throwing a fit as I leave the house, squealing and scratching at the door and the wall beside the door. That's the problem. She's scratching the paint off the door and the paint and texture off the wall beside the door. My landlord isn't going to like this! How can I stop her or protect the property? I can't get a pen or anything like that between today and tomorrow (when I have to go to Little Rock for the day) because this small town has NOTHING like that. What to do????? |

| Is there anyway you can take Susan w/ you to Little Rock? If not how about a trusted friend/family member who can watch her? Can you get ahold of a large crate and place a potty pad on one end with food/water dishes, toys, and a bed on the other?

| Could you get a piece of cardboard and tape in on the wall and door. This should work for now and it would be safe for your baby! Hope this works for you. Joy, Nikki and Chloe Rose |

| I think she's telling you she wants to be with you. I would try a big crate, big enough for her pads, toys & food. They sell them at Petsmart, Then she can be in a bigger room. Mybe even leave the radio or TV on for her. Good Luck, Keep us posted!

| I might be able to borrow my mom's big crate. I'd hoped to take her over to Mom's to visit Little Bit (Susan's litter mate), but Mom and Dad are both feeling unwell. There is a little better than a ghost of a chance of taking her with us. The weather will be favorable, I think, and I don't think we'll be out of the car much. The problem is that it isn't our car; we'll be driving the car that belongs to the friend we're picking up at the airport. But I don't really think he'll mind. But the BIGGEST factor is that my husband wants to take Susan. And that may solve the problem at least for tomorrow. I think I'll get a big crate, though. That's a GREAT idea and cheaper than a new door. |

| A couple of our walls got the same treatment! lol. Those lil' stinkers! But, they do grow out of it. Our spots where they chewed are atill there, too. lol. Little reminders! I would try the bigger crate idea, tho. At our house, there was always someone to take care of them when they were at that stage, so we usually caught them in the act. Good luck! |

| Puppies do what puppies do, they chew. I've had new wallpaper torn to shreds, hubby was really happy about that one. Then, his antique rocking chair. I could go on. The bigger crate or a playpen sounds like a good option. Someone suggested on this site to cover unwanted chewing things with deodorant, or there's Bitter Apple. I found the best thing was to keep them away from things that could harm them until that phase was done. |
