| New to YorkieTalk! Hi Y'all! I spent the morning writing a long "wanted ad" for a yorkie only to find out that it did not post I thought I would start over and just introduce myself as a Yorkie admirer who is looking for a wonderful Yorkie to join my family. I am 32 years old, and have just moved to Harlingen, TX with my husband, children, dogs, and cats. We currently have two large dogs of mixed breed that enjoy a large fenced yard, and two outdoor cats who enjoy the abundant supply of field mice that live in the Citrus Orchard across the road. One of our dogs (Bishop) was a feral puppy that was rescued in North Carolina when he was only 7-8 weeks old. Our other dog (Rook) is an Akita that was adopted from a family in Vermont because they did not have the yard for her to run and play. Bishop and Rook are very much a part of our family and I must admit that I still let them inside when my husband is not looking so that they can cuddle and jump all over our furniture. When we adopted our kittens last year, they were only 10 weeks old and have made Rook their surrogate mom. Though she is fixed, she started lactating for the kittens and fed them. I was in shock, but after research found that this happened more often that I thought. Still a strange sight to behold. Strange, but somehow very sweet Now I find myself staying at home, telecommuting (working for home), instead of having to go in to the office. The kids are in school all day, and I am craving companionship. My husband will be leaving soon, and will be away for anywhere from 3 months to 6 years. Perhaps this is a selfish reason to want a Yorkie, but I feel the need to have a small animal that can be with me during the day, and that I can snuggle with at night also. My husband has always been interested in Shows, so having the ability to train and show a Yorkie would be wonderful for us to do as a couple. We are not in a hurry, so we will be taking the time to look around at puppies and young adults so that we find the right match. Some of you may hear from me with questions about available puppies that are posted here - I tend to ask and research a lot, so I apologize in advance if I bug anyone with a million questions I hope to be a long-term member, and to get to know most of you. If you have any advice for me on my search, please reach out to me. Whether it be general information or a specific referral, I would appreciate hearing from other members who have advice to help us become the best Yorkie parents that we can be. Jess |

| Hi and welcome to YT. You are doing the right thing and learning as much as you can about these little angels. lol. Not like some of us--me especially as my Hot Rod was a Christmas present (of course the best one I've ever gotten, ). I wish you luck on your search for the perfect baby for you and your family. Hugs.

| Hello, Jessica! Welcome to Yorkietalk. You are a rare person that takes the time to research about the breed and have patience enough to not buy the first adorable puppy they see. It's hard to resist the pretty little pups but I think you will reap the rewards of your efforts. So much information can be found here at YT. |

| Wow! Thank you all for the overwhelming welcome that I have received here! I do believe that we have found our new family member. I talked to the lady today, and she was one of the most amazing people that I have ever had the opportunity to speak with. In fact, I enjoyed the conversation so much that it lasted an hour and a half If everything goes according to plans, I will be bringing Prince home to live with us in January. He is not a puppy, but at two years old will be with us for many many years to be loved and spoiled. Does anyone know of any links to patterns for clothes and costumes? I have a room full of fabric just waiting to be turned into some coming home gifts. Wish us luck, and stay tuned for more info and pictures when he gets here |
