Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Tuffy is always on a leash outside so far but we did see a guinea pig in Petco that made him go absolutely beserk. I'm sure once he spots squirrels he'll want to have some chases. I'd be petrified of him catching one I know that! Often while we're walking he'll get the scent of something & tug to get at whatever (unseen by me) it was/is. He'll stand on his hindquarters if I don't walk towards him soon enough. Can't wait to get home to get his no-choke harness next week. Sherry Last edited by normarae63; 12-04-2009 at 01:52 PM. |

| Love your picture! My Baby Zoey my little 2.5 lb yorkie is the little huntress in this family. And yes she has come very close. One time she had a squirrels tail and thankfully he got away! She even climbs about 2 feet up the tree to try and catch them which really infuriates my other yorkies. It just cracks me up

| Bandit's dreams would come true if he could catch a squirrel! He spots them from what seems like miles away and goes nuts. If he's in the back yard he'll zoom to the tree and get there just after the squirrel. I get worried that the squirrel will turn and attack He IS a great cricket catcher though |

| Punken Scored... Big One Night, didn't make Mom to happy. No squirrel but Punken did bring me a baby possum. She much have thought it was one of her toys because she was just holding it in her mouth. I had just let her out in the yard for her last potty call for the night. Mind you, 10:00 and she decides to bring me a gift. When she came to the porch, this thing was hanging in her mouth, it was playing possum. I couldn't believe it. I didn't know what to do.. lol I told her to drop it before something happen to Punken, she dropped it alright, right on the back porch and the little sucker ran into the house. I grabbed Punken and Breese and was yelling for help, no one came. Finally, went across the street to Larry, to rescue me and my little girls. I'm a wreck, and he's laughing his head off. I told him, he better go get it out of my house or I'd be spending the night with him. lol He went in to get it alright, it had gone behind the toilet tank and he could see the tail hanging down. Mind you, I'm outside my yard and didn't see it go out but he told me, he scooted it outside with the towel. After this great experience, I didn't trust anyone, I let Punken in to make sure it was out... lol She came out again.... looking for it in the yard. Kathleen.. | Well, I'm convinced these little guys are definitely hunters! I let Maxwell out one last time and the (wiley coyote) squirrel literally took him straight through a briar patch, like he really did it on purpose. Sure enough, Maxwell got totally stuck in the briars and froze until I rescued him. He's been MUCH more subdued today (but, unhurt). I love reading your stories - but I do feel for the birds, possums, hamsters and bunnies! |

| I have a friend who's yorkie resently tangled with a big squirrel and the yorkie got bit. My friend said the poor dog screamed like it was really getting hurt. Luckily the dog was not seriously hurt. |

| Edie will never catch anything, no matter how hard she tries. Why? Because she barks like crazy as she is running toward the potential prey! She has not learned that stealth is important in hunting. And I am glad about that! My Westie, Breezy, caught a pigeon once. I was just getting ready to start my first day at a new job. I glanced in the back yard (we have a doggie door so the girls can go outside during the day) and I saw feathers flying and my little white dog covered in pigeon blood! oh the horror!!! I ran to the doggie door and closed it so she could not get in the house. Then I ran outside and got a shovel, and shoveled the dead bird into the trash can. Then I hosed Breezy off. Finally, I brought her into the house and gave her a bath. YUCK. |

| One time I caught our mutt terrier Buddy (RIP) humping a dead squirell. I sent video to AFV but apparently they didn't find it as funny as I did.

| Well, Bernie has never caught a squirrel, but he did catch a chipmunk. He was quite proud of himself too. Once he brought me a headless rabbit (ugh!), but I believe it was already headless when he caught it. Of course, Fun Kitty is an entirely different story...
