| Concerns about spaying a tiny yorkie... For any of you that have a very small yorkie & are concerned about having them spayed, I just wanted to say that Kodah did sooooo goooood. I kept putting this surgery off but knew we wanted to have her spayed. Our vet seemed to think that 7 to 8 months was a good time, so we waited until she was eight months old. She weighed in at 2.1 lbs. the morning of surgery, but my vet reassured me she would do fine. We also had her micro-chipped & four baby teeth pulled. I took her in at 7:15 & brought her home at 5:00. She ate some boiled chicken that evening & slept thru the night. The next day, you would swear that she was completely normal! I was shocked! Stormy, on the other hand who weighed in at 4.1 lbs & is 7 months old has layed around for three days!!! Kodah is eating her normal food, but Stormy holds out for the boiled chicken! I just wanted to share this for those who have concerns, as did I! Now we just have to wait for the shaved belly to grow back! |

| Thanks for that encouragement.. I have a 11 month old girl a tad less than 2 pounds... scared to death to have her spayed.. gonna wait a tad longer tho because I think she will need baby teeth pulled. I'm still nervous about it.

| Glad to hear it went ok... I got Daisha spayed (vote for her on www.petendipity.com pet of the month contest!!! at 7 months and she weighed right at 3 pounds.... I also got Dixie spayed at the same time, she was 1 yr old and weighed 4.5 lbs. Dixie did great.. even felt like trying to jump up on the couch that afternoon ---GASP----- but Daisha went and hid under the bed and wouldn't eat. I called the vet w/ concerns and he reassured me that she would be ok. I was up all night checking on her and by the next morning, she was back to normal. Its so scary for anything to be done to these little furbabies, isn't it??!! |

| I am glad it went okay. I would have been nervous about spaying one so tiny. My girl is 4lbs and she had a rough night when we brought her home then the next day she was fine.

| Thanks for the info Hi: Thanks so much for the feedback. Our puppies have all been good healthy sizes until the last litter when we got one that only made it to 3 pounds. She's over a year now and her owner thinks she (the owner) is strong enough to do the surgery. It was so very good and reassuring to read your post. CJ |

| My vet said Lacey had the tiniest organs she had ever seen and she had done hamsters! I was so scared but she, too, was up and about the next day without having taken any pain pills or anything. I think I needed the pills instead of her. |
