| Question about my yorkie's size MY yorkie is 6 months old. She may have a liver shunt and I heard that LS afftects hair and size growth. Her hair grows like crazy but shes not that big. Im hoping its just because her mom was 4 1/2 pounds and her dad was 3 pounds. I will post a picture of her so that anyone can let me know how big their 6 month old yorkies are and how much their yorkies parents weighed or their height |

| Are there other reasons, besides size that you think she might have LS? What were her Bile Acids? I have a healthy little one, and a 4.5 lb boy who has liver problems, he had a really hard time putting on weight, and refused to eat. Size can be determined by many things, not just the parents but the grandparents and g. grandparents etc... My little one is healthy but half the size of her smaller parent... I don't really worry about the actual amount that mine weigh but if they are thin or chubby for their own frame As far as I can tell your girl looks healthy, but it is hard to know without seeing her in person.

| Your little yorkie looks healthy to me, as far as weight and size goes. I hope that she does not have a liver shunt. She is very cute as well. Unsre if you have taken her to the vet and she has had the right tests , for a L.S. ?

| she has had a bile acid test but the numbers confuse me so I dont know how to read them. vet says she might cuz of her symptoms a few months back. abt 3 months ago. she was disoriented, wandering, drooling. sometimes lethargic even after she was on prescription food and meds. i changed her food fromI/D to L/D. i was getting wrong food. on ld she is doing great. she weighs 3.5 pounds. she will get a scintigraphy this month to be sure what is wrong with her. i just wanted to know if she looks like a good size for a 6 month old..i heard LS can affect size growth. but her hair grows fast and she is definitely bigger than when I first bought her. |

is not an expensive test, and it would help you know about a liver shunt. The size of the parents does not always matter to the pup. Plus some breeds do not tell the whole truth about parent size. Did you see the parents? My fur baby had a liver shunt, she had surgery to fix it. Sandy | |
