Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | So worried... Missy got spayed last night. I'm just so worried. Not sure how to help her!! I was up all night making sure she was ok. I kept petting her and reassuring her. Today she's in so much pain. And her sutures look so painful... She's eating and drinking water. She gets up but doesn't walk. She lays down but it hurts her. What did you guys do when your little babies went through this???? |

| When Piper was spayed the first day home she was tired but didn't seem to be in any pain. The vet did send home pain medication that I used for the first couple days. She was acting normal within a weeks time.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | The vet did send pain medication. He said to wait until about now to give them to her. I did and she's sleeping now. I just feel so bad for her and so helpless that I can't make her feel better. She's my first puppy ever so this is all new to me. I just want to know she'll be ok... |

| To make you laugh... She will probably do fine in a few days, but for me when I got my hysterectomy I was in pain for over 3 months and those pain meds were weak. I couldn't eat for days either and wanted MORPHINE! I can imagine it's like that for a puppy too when they get spayed and come out of the anesthesia. Hang in there and don't worry. She is in my prayers. |

| Maddie just got spayed last week. I was just as nervous as you are! I know what you mean by the hurting when laying down and standing up thing. Maddie just stood really awkwardly and looked at me like "Please make me not hurt!" It was so sad (I acutally cried). I just sat on the floor with her favorite blankee and let her get comfortable and then let her just lay there without touching or talking to her. The next day was a little better, and by the third day, it would just hurt if I would accidently touch it when picking her up. I know it is so hard to watch her in pain, but just give it a couple days and as long ans she is eating or drinking she should be just fine! Good luck! I know EXACTLY how you feel! |

| Awww, poor baby. Maggie was in pain that night and we finally got thru to the vet and she said that it was okay to give her a dose of pain meds. She settled right down and rested the evening. She was just fine the next day.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I know my vet gives them a pain shot that is supposed to last for 24 hours and then gives pills to take home. When my pom was spayed a long time ago I was off work for 2 days with her because she was in so much pain but after that she was much better. With Cali and Roxie I put on a soft onesie and it seemed to help protect the incision. I hope Missy feels better soon.

| Nala just got spayed a few weeks ago and I was just as nervous as you! We picked her up and the vet had already given her meds to get her through the night and pain meds for us to give starting the next morning. She was very groggy for the first couple of hours but then was starting to get back to her normal self....just slightly less so. She slept in her crate on our bed so we could check on her. By 24 hours later she was FINE! We had a baby onesie on her to keep her from biting her stitches, and never really touched her scar (the vet used a laser so it looked great right away). Don't worry....she'll be herself sooner than you think! She was my second puppy and I was still a nervous wreck...I called the vet 2 or 3 times that day checking on her Make sure you give her the pain meds the first few days and then depending on how she is doing you can decide if she still needs them or not. We had a week-long supply but only used about 4 or 5 days worth, and the last day was partially to make her sleepy for the car ride from: NY to MD so she wouldn't bounce up and down and tear her stitches. If the scar is hot to the touch or red and very painful, I would call your vet to check to see if she thinks you should bring her in. |

| I'm sorry your baby is in pain, but just hang in there, and she'll be fine, in no time...Apple was spayed last Thursday @ noon...I picked her up that evening, and when I brought her home, she cried and wimpered until I gave her pain meds at 8 (she'd had a pain shot in surgery)...The next day she was in pain, but not so much, and by the 3rd day she was scaring me, because she was moving around so much...Today is day 5, and I don't think she is in any pain, but she does seem to get tired pretty quickly, and is sleeping more than usual...I stopped the pain meds the 2nd day, because I think they were upsetting her more than the pain...I do think she needed them the first 24 hrs. 'though...Like the other person said, just make her comfortable and give her lots of love and reassurance...You'll be surprised how quickly she will bounce back...Apple gets her stitches out day after tomorrow |
