| I dont trust bigger dogs You know its funny before I got Peanut I didnt mind the bigger dogs, but now I am more aware of them. Last night I took Peanut for a walk, I came to this corner and I heard someone coming and I heard a dog. I stopped and picked Peanut up. Well what do you know, a little boy.. maybe 9 was walking his pit bull. The pit bull looked at me and then sniffed the air and he noticed Peanut and kinda charged at me.. I moved away before he could get close to me, but I saw that look in his eyes.. It was that look you never want to see in a dog of any breed. You know I dont understand how someone's parents can let a little boy no more than 70 pounds walk a 100 lb pit bull, no way in He!! would that little boy be able to control that dog. Who knows what would happen.. Shame shame, at least walk with your kids, so they are not alone with a dog that has way more control. Then I was coming up to my condo door and this other lady was walking a sheltie mix of some kind... I once again picked up Peanut and let them walk by me, The sheltie didnt look mean or anything, but it didnt look friendly! And I am not trying to pin point Pit Bulls. I love all breeds of dogs. I am saying all big dogs in general. I am going to be aware of.

| Dogs of all sizes can sense when you don't trust them. I actually trust big dogs more than small dogs to be friendly. The only difference with them is that a big dog can obviously cause more damage so yeah, of course, you have to be aware. I've met FAR more friendly big dogs than I have small dogs. Most of my experiences with dogs not liking me, growling at me, nipping me, trying to bite me have come from little dogs, never once a bigger dog. I grew up with a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd. My aunt owned a Rottweiler with me growing up, as well as a Pit Bull. She knows how to control them and has the personality to own such powerful breeds and they were always the sweetest dogs ever. However, my grandma's Llahpso Apso growing up... that dog would bite anybody! But can I just say... a little boy walking a Pit Bull by himself is ridiculous!!! That's very wrong and irresponsible of the parents to allow that to happen. I don't care what kind of dog, I don't even think you should allow a 9 year old to watch a Golden Retriever. If anything were to happen, I'm sure they're alot stronger than the little boy.

| Sometimes people will make comments to me about carrying my dog and not letting her walk. She gets plenty of exercise and would love to be walking everywhere we go, but there are just too many loose big dogs running the streets. It is a shame people are so ignorant about their responsibilities as pet owners!

| Or even people allowing their little dogs to walk beside them without a leash. I've had instances where big dogs pop up all of a sudden and I quickly pick up my baby with her harness. But the other day, some people were walking down a pretty busy street with their little Chihuahua next to them, without a leash or harness. That made me mad because at any second, the little puppy could have run into the street or a big dog could have attacked and without a leash, it's impossible to step in quickly.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Being mistrustful of other dogs (stranger dogs) is our JOB as a mommy. Skin kid or fur kid......no match for a nutter dog. So we are SUPPOSED to protect them by getting them out of harm's way. Huge dog/litte kid= red flag. Off leash=red flag. Good for you OP! |

| I have become so paranoid! I love ALL breeds and animals but my little Winnie is so little it wouldn't take much for him to be seriously hurt, even just playing. Just continue to use good judgment.

| I'm the opposite! Since having Franklin and Maggie I am now more trusting of big dogs. We had dogs growing up but they were my very first dogs I had on my own. Since having them I have learned SO MUCH about dogs and their behavior. Through researching, watching trainers like Cesar Milan and Victoria Stillwell and my own observation I feel like I can read dogs. We always had small dogs so before Franklin and Maggie I was always timid around big dogs. Now I can approach them without fear because I know how to interpret their body language. Don't get me wrong I am still careful with Franklin and Maggie.. even if a bigger dog means no harm they can still injure our little Yorkies quite easily. But I just wanted to point out that dogs are dogs and most of them are friendly, large or small. Try not to judge the dog by their size. They may end up being the sweetest thing you've ever met.

I can pick up what your putting down.. ( hehe i love that saying) I have worked in a vet hospital, as a tech and I can read dogs pretty well. It's not that I am scared of big dogs, I am scared of what big dogs can do to peanut. But I am really good at reading dogs and being an over protected Mom where I know Peanut is safe

| In almost every instance that Yogi and I have encountered bigger dogs, Yogi has been the one to get "hostile". The bigger dogs have always been calm and Yogi barks and tries to jump out of my arms to get to the other dog. It's like the bigger dogs know Yogi can't cause any damage. I will say that Yogi seems to be in love with a pitbull that lives next door. |
