| HELP: I am Getting my 5 month old baby Spayed this friday. Hi everyone; I am new to Yorkietalk, however I have been reading so many posts since I got Chloe 2 months ago; the info here has been very helpful, that I finally took the time to become a member too!!. Now I am facing my first big thing with Chloe which is Spaying her. After much consideration, I decided to take the plunge and listen to my vet about spaying her now that she's 5 months old before her first heat; however, I am nervous about the whole procedure, and because she's so small (2.8lbs) it scares me some. I just wanted to ask for your experiences with this procedure, and any suggestions/advice in helping me make it through it, as well as how to help her in recuperating properly once she's done with it. Thanks!! and BTW everyone's babies are gorgeous!! Yorkies are the best! |

| First of your little Chloe is adorable! And I definitely know how you feel about being concerned about getting her spayed. My Bella had her surgery when she was about 7 months. One of the best pieces of advice that anyone gave me was getting her a baby onesie so that she would not be able to bother her stitches. Other than that I gave her lots of hugs and cuddles and she was running around and acting like her true self within a few days. I hope all goes well for your little one.

| i too was very nervous when i got Coral spayed. She did well though and was back to herself in a day or so. The best thing i did was use a newborn onesie to keep her from licking her stitches. It kinda was a pain for potty, but i just unsnapped it and tucked it under while she was outside. I left the middle snap open for her tail to poke through. i will post pics in a little bit...

| Hi Bella's Mommy; your baby is so chic and glam!!, you're very pretty too, I saw your pics! ^_^. Thanks for the advice, it is nerve-wrecking when such a tiny thing has to go under the knife so early in life. I have been praying to get the strength to not get so nervous or negative (my bunny of 6 yrs. passed away a few amonths ago-before I got Chloe- so I'm still feeling the pain and uneasiness of surgery). I know she'll do great, but you know how mommies get, we're all so nervous when it's out of our hands!. I'll go and get a onesie today!, I hope they're small enough though, so many newborn clothes look so big!. Thanks for caring! ^_^ Hugs, Meli & Chloe |

| Hi Luci, Coral is ADORABLE!, she looks so cute in the onesie!!. Question: When putting on her onesie, how did you handle her as to not hurt her stitches?; my vet said that her stitches will be internal, but I'm sure until everything heals, there will be a scar ; do they put some gauze or something on the area to prevent lint and stuff from sticking to it?, I wonder if the onesie will stick to her scar because of any secretion or something. |

| Hi Mom To Hot Rod; thanks for your advice; Chloe is a ball of energy, so I expect her to get a little blah after her surgery; I hope everything goes perfect. BTW, that softee cone is fantastic!; I was going to make her one with starched felt and velcro, I hope it works, but between that and the onesie I'll be getting her, I'm hoping she won't manage to get to her stitches!...hehehe Thanks!!; oh yeah, your babies are SOOOOOOOO CUTE!! ^_^ |

| *~* QUESTION *~* I saw on other posts about their baby teeth being removed during the spaying; Chloe's baby teeth are getting loose, and I'm already beginning to see the tips of her adult teeth. I asked the vet last week about it, and he said that her canines were not totally out yet and that he wouldn't reccomend taking her baby teeth out. Any suggestions on this? |

| Hello! My bruizer is getting neutered in two weeks. He is 9 months old and he is barely 4 lbs. He is getting his baby teeth pulled at the same time. I'm worried as well. I worry about him being put to sleep. I might try the onesie idea also. |

| He's adorable!; I know exactly how you're feeling!. I am uneasy, but I'm trying to be strong for her, because she depends on me...but I'm as scared or more than if it were being done to me!. I feel my vet is very capable, and he will do a great job in spaying Chloe. So far she's been a trooper with all her shots and meds (she had kennel cough days after i got her). I know she'll be great, and so will your baby!, I think talking about it with other people who know this process helps so much!!!, I know we'll be over this dilemma soon, and we'll look back and see how much we overreacted to this.....just that right now our nerves are taking the best of us!! hehe. |

Bella had her teeth pulled during her spay surgery, but she was older than Chloe. I'm sure another YT'er will be able to give you some great advice about that. Praying for all of the best for you and your precious little Chloe.

| Thanks Jen! Well, I got Chloe a set of onesies, and they're so huge on her!; I'm hoping I can alter them tonight so I can have them ready for her coming home tomorrow after the procedure. ^_^
